Statistics - Smart, educated states are democratic, dumb states are not

  1. Totally bogus number in that you are not talking about quality of candidate here. You're discussing the racial slant on this one as it applies to the African American community. :)

The numbers are what they are. Both of us know that minority voters favor Democrats in overwhelming numbers. I would guess that African-Americans in higher income brackets vote Republican in higher percentages than those blacks who are poorer and/or less educated.

You equate new with always improved. Not every progressive action has brought change for the better. Of course one can mention the prohibition of slavery (Republicans), or women's suffrage (Republicans) or child labor laws (Republican) as evidence of progressives terminating injustice. However nuclear weapons was progress. The psychological treatment of can't be rehabilitated sex criminals in lieu of prison is progressive. Nations without borders is progressive. I mean c'mon. You rail non-stop about illegal immigration but is not the notion of "countries" regressive? Some traditional thought and mores are rubbish, some aren't. But to reduce political or ideological debate to a battle between regressive/progressive is shallow, eh?

  7. No, not all progressive ideas work out, but we can be assured that no new ideas will work out when the mindset is regressive, conservative, and non traditional...because there will never be any new ideas, and those that are suggested will never get a chance to take off the ground.

    Stem Cell research anyone?

    LOL...

Case in point. I was labeled "regressive" during the Congressional campaign because I have reservations on how the research is conducted. As an ideological opponent of abortion I'd prefer too not see abortionists further enriched by trafficking in assassinated fetuses. So if one approves of the science then the end justifies the means, eh?
