Statins

Discussion in 'Health and Fitness' started by Pekelo, Jul 21, 2017.

  1. Before 280. After a couple stints 2013 and taking statins I’m normal. According to my cardiologist I’ll be on them forever. Always been in fairly good shape, still play hockey, over 40 beer league. Ride my bike 10k every morning. Inline skate 15k every wednesday with a speed skating club. Heart attacks do not discriminate, mine was very mild with no heart damage whatsoever. Dodged a bullet before 2013 hockey season, went in for checkup with slight dizziness around 9am. 2 Blood test, angiogram came back positive, diagnosed with mild heart attack. Stints went in around 5pm.

  2. I would recommend that you read the little piece of paper that comes with the prescribed statin such as Lipitor. In that piece of paper they list the study that was conducted in order to get FDA clearance as a cholesterol lowering drug. I have talked about this in many other threads. The study was pretty inconclusive but was enough for big pharma to get its drug and make billions from doctors who skip right over diet and lifestyle changes and hand out the quick fix pill without any science on whether the link between elevated cholester and CVD is significant.

  3. How i ended with stints is by not following doctor's advise. Staying on heart healthy diet for years, exercise regularly, keep my weight in check. Didn't work. With stints my plaque is taken care of. A close buddy had stints put in at 40 and he's still hardcore bike rider. We both take statins, clean of any blocks, cholesterol levels are normal. My advise follow your doctor's advise. Info found on the web is interesting but a doctor is in front saving lives for many years. There are all kinds of jokers on the web, look at all the members on here giving advise. I'll stick to specialist with backup credentials vs whatever you all read on the web hawking snake oil.

STENTS. Not stints. Lord man, grow a brain and get an MRI. Enjoy the poison.

  5. Whatever. You mean you misunderstood the whole thread. Already had a few MRI's , were have you been. Correcting spelling i see. You're the joker i'm referring to. Go try and get a MRI without seeing a doctor first.

Some people on ET are not just genius in trading, they (think they) are genius in almost all areas that are posted about. They overestimate their geniality and underestimate their huge ego. LOL.

I am happy for you being healthy. For the record, if I had a heart attack, I would also take statins. That being said, statins don't clear out the veins. Niacin does. :)

About doctor's advice. For years I had slightly high cholesterol levels. Then at my last check everything was fine and dandy. I guess I managed to "fix the problem" without statins. What was funnier though the dietary advice what the doctor's office printed out for me to follow. Even the evil Ancel Keys acknowledged that dietary cholesterol has pretty much no effect on serum cholesterol levels.

Hey, if the funding father of the chol craze says that, who am I to disagree?
