Hawkins Human Events February 24, 2009 State governors â looking down the gun barrel of long-term spending forced on them by the Obama âstimulusâ plan â are saying they will refuse to take the money. This is a Constitutional confrontation between the federal government and the states unlike any in our time. In the first five weeks of his presidency, Barack Obama has acted so rashly that at least 11 states have decided that his brand of âhopeâ equates to an intolerable expansion of the federal governmentâs authority over the states. These states â âWashington, New Hampshire, Arizona, Montana, Michigan, Missouri, Oklahoma, Californiaâ¦Georgia,â South Carolina, and Texas â âhave all introduced bills and resolutionsâ reminding Obama that the 10th Amendment protects the rights of the states, which are the rights of the people, by limting the power of the federal government. Well that will be FIGHTING words. State Sovereignty Push is very HARD PROOF that many states are EXTREMELY worried about the direction out country in going as lead by this executive branch.
States should be given the right to implement monetary policy (using the dollar of course) that would reallly mean something.
