But I can allow drill baby drill! That will relieve price pressures at the gap pump, the NG spigot, and the propane tank filling stations!
In my opinion, part of it was supply chain, but that part of inflation is actually transitory and self-corrects in time. What's not transitory is when money is simply injected into the system that's not offset by goods/services/asset creation. We've always had inflation. It just wasn't going to what's in the CPI. From 2008-2020 all the money being injected was basically going to the rich through cheap loans. Hence we saw wealth inequality increase and the stock market sustain one of the longest bull markets in history despite slow economic growth. In 2020/2021, we tried something new, we exploded the M2 and gave free money to the lower/middle class. Instead of just creating demand for financial assets/luxury items, this greatly increased demand for everyday items. For those arguing that there's nothing we could have done and that it's global, realize that we are big part of why it is global. We are 24% of world GDP. Also realize that many of the other major players, such as the ECB followed the exact same playbook as our central bank. When the Federal Reserve does something, you'll often see the other major players follow suit, sometimes to more extreme measures. There's a reason Switzerland doesn't have the same inflation rate as the rest of Europe. They didn't inject anywhere near as much money in terms of a percentage of what was already there into their system. They are making a big deal about 3% inflation over there while the US/ECB are at 8%+.
You say the president can't change inflation, but yet they can change the world's climate. ---Time for a reality check.
There is something that came up in a thread recently, about efficiency and whatever regarding our Government. Let's put this into context, to start. See this pic? This is Trump "spending his own money" on all this fast-food for some college football team he invited to the WH some years ago. Clemson? Anyways, this is one of many shots of just how much food there was. Considering how much there was, and how cold and soggy it all was, one has to think a lot of it was not eaten. And so what happens to food like that? It gets tossed into the trash. That should be a crime. There is a pervasive and insidious problem in this country, and that is food waste. We, the USA, really do have people who are going hungry. And we really do have tens of thousands of food-service joints throwing away food at the end of the day because it was too much, or it got cold, etc. Cases in point... What do they do at a buffet restaurant at the end of day with all the left-over food not eaten from those trays? Into the trash. What do they do with those pizzas ordered at pizza-chains that are never picked-up? Into the trash. What do they do with those wrong orders at McD and BK etc that are never picked-up? Into the trash. I remember a time, my fellow Americans, when I dumpster-dived along with a relative a Little Caesar's restaurant right after they closed, because we wanted free food. And we got them. 4 large pies. 2 were cheese, one with pepperoni, and the fourth had lots of bits on it, like sausage mushrooms and whatnot. They were still warm! Those pies fed us for over a week. For free. Why do companies do this? Because of one word...LITIGATION. You see, food-service companies around the US refuse to give "expired" food to people free-of-charge because once it leaves the facility through the back door, the company can get sued by someone who consumes it and gets sick. Can you imagine how many homeless people could have food security if we stopped throwing away perfectly-good prepared foods at the end of the night? Well, let's face it...If some homeless person claims they got sick by eating food that went out the back door, then they can suck a dick and choke, because that is NOT gratitude! My proposal is to waive these companies from the liability of being sued by giving away their end-of-day food to those in need. In fact, it would probably benefit those companies, because instead of writing it off as a business loss, they could claim it is a donation to charity, so they would show positive corporate responsibility and community activism! If necessary, we can create a 401(c) trust where companies can claim their donations, and the food will be donated through that trust's name. Call it Hamburgers for Hobos or something. I dunno', I don't give a fuck what it is called. But this shit about throwing away perfectly edible food? It has to stop NOW! P.S. It will help stave off inflation, too. Side-benefit. (If you want to see this in action first-hand, then next time you are in a McD and BK, while at the counter waiting for your order, keep an eye on the stuff under the infrared lamps. If you see one or two items sitting there with other food items passing them by, those are most likely going to be discarded. So just get friendly with the counter guy, be like... "Hey, that stuff under the dead lamp there, you gonna' throw it away?" "Yeah, it's been there for a while." "You could slip it into my bag, I hate to see food go to waste. I won't mind it." Usually that is all it takes. You get free food, you saved filling up the landfill and helped save our planet by reducing methane as long as you do not fart too much. Feeding the needy without liability, ON 2024. Thank you.
All that food was not eaten, so your claim is false. I am sorry, half that food went into the trash. The 30-second delay between posts thing is to prevent bots from spamming. Maybe you have seen it in online chat channels? Same thing can happen in forums. It is like a bot condom.
There is solid proof that half of it went into the trash? Blame that on the players for not eating it then. Maybe they pigged out on the flight to DC and weren't hungry.
