I was on a flight out of LA one time back then, window seat, and this lady in the middle seat is talking to the stranger in the aisle seat next to her and she was going on and on about how her husband was buying every stock with dot-com at the end of its name and how they were setting up for retiring in 2 years. I couldn't help but chime in with "I don't know if that's such a good idea". She gives me this indignant look and says "you don't know how the stock market works". I returned her look with my best Mr. Spock raised eyebrow... and went back to my Grisham novel. Looking back... sometimes I think she was right.
No sir. My one attempt at actually trading stocks during that time was a shit penny stock. I was too busy focused on trying to get ahead in the corporate world on the ol' ladder. Stocks and the financial sector were never on my mind. But I do enjoy the stories of the dot-com bubble. A classic case of a tragedy forming in a world getting too big for it's britches, and the seams bursting.
