stalinist, leftist tactics used against free speech - AGAIN

  1. Amazing.

(disclaimer: i AM pro-choice. it does not follow that i support the actions of those other pro-choice people in attempting to silence those who are pro-life. these are leftist, stalinist totalitarian antiamerican idiots)

time and time again, the threats to free speech come from the left. back before the campus (berkeley) free speech movement oh so many decades ago, most threats to free speech came from the entrenched Right Wing . Now, (for the last couple of decades as a matter of fact), they consistently come from the left wing.

    PERFECT EXAMPLE here...

this woman, "invited" her students to violate others freedom of speech (and others freedoms to observe same freedom of speech) by tearing down a constitutionally protected display. Yet again, instead of countering what they consider "bad speech" with their own speech, these leftist apparatchnik's proceed to violate the rights (and the REAL choices) of others by attacking their rights to protest, to display their ideas, and to express their first amendment RIGHTS.

    i quote:

**"Sally Jacobsen, a longtime professor in NKU's literature and language department, said the display was dismantled by about nine students in one of her graduate-level classes.

"I did, outside of class during the break, invite students to express their freedom-of-speech rights to destroy the display if they wished to," Jacobsen said.

Asked whether she participated in pulling up the crosses, the professor said, "I have no comment."

She said she was infuriated by the display, which she saw as intimidating and a "slap in the face" to women who might be making "the agonizing and very private decision to have an abortion.""

Translation: free speech doesn't matter if she doesn't agree with it. Note: one does not express free speech rights by DESTROYING a constitutionally protected display. One expresses free speech rights by protest, debate, and a counter-display. these totalitarian leftist scum cannot engage in debate. they engage in destruction of our rights.

This is exactly why we have to fear these encroachments of free speech on the left, ESPECIALLY on our campuses. These people are not about choice, or freedom. They are about being thought police and restricting other's constitutional rights...

also, for some wonderful case law examples of free speech and constitutional rights violations on campus - i suggest. www.thefire.org

i would hope fairminded people on the left would protest this blatant violation of free speech and debate. i'm waiting for the outrage on the leftwing sites (democraticunderground.com thenation.com motherjones.com etc.)

This also falls under many hate crime statutes (note: i am pro-choice AND agaisnt hate crime legislation), but i am against hate crime legislation, feeling that this should be prosecuted as vandalism and/.or theft. Also, a federal civil rights suit could be brought, as a first amendment violation under color of authority.

    i'll standby :l

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS - A professor at Northern Kentucky University said she invited students in one of her classes to destroy an anti-abortion display on campus Wednesday evening.
NKU police are investigating the incident, in which 400 crosses were removed from the ground near University Center and thrown in trash cans. The crosses, meant to represent a cemetery for aborted fetuses, had been temporarily erected last weekend by a student Right to Life group with permission from NKU officials.

Public universities cannot ban such displays because they are a type of symbolic speech that has been protected by the U.S. Supreme Court.

Witnesses reported "a group of females of various ages" committing the vandalism about 5:30 p.m., said Dave Tobertge, administrative sergeant with the campus police.

Sally Jacobsen, a longtime professor in NKU's literature and language department, said the display was dismantled by about nine students in one of her graduate-level classes.

"I did, outside of class during the break, invite students to express their freedom-of-speech rights to destroy the display if they wished to," Jacobsen said.

Asked whether she participated in pulling up the crosses, the professor said, "I have no comment."

She said she was infuriated by the display, which she saw as intimidating and a "slap in the face" to women who might be making "the agonizing and very private decision to have an abortion."

Jacobsen said it originally wasn't clear who had placed the crosses on campus.

She said that could make it appear that NKU endorsed the message.

Pulling up the crosses was similar to citizens taking down Nazi displays on Fountain Square, she said.

"Any violence perpetrated against that silly display was minor compared to how I felt when I saw it. Some of my students felt the same way, just outraged," Jacobsen said.

NKU President James Votruba said any evidence of criminal conduct in the incident will be turned over to prosecutors. He said he appreciated the emotional nature of the abortion debate and was glad that diverse viewpoints are represented at the school, but he condemned the destruction of the crosses.

"Freedom-of-speech rights end where you infringe on someone else's freedom of speech," Votruba said.

"I don't buy the claim that this is an act of freedom of speech, to destroy property."

He said he was gathering information about the extent of Jacobsen's participation.

"I don't know if she was pulling up the crosses, but I think she was out there with the students. If so, as far as I'm concerned, she went outside the conditions of her employment," Votruba said.

He declined to say what consequences she might face. Jacobsen is a tenured professor who has been at NKU since 1980.

  2. stalin wasnt a leftist.

  3. lol. ridiculous, untrue, and a tangent.

call them trotskyists, marxists, or whatnot if it makes u feel better

they are about thoughtcontrol. that's the point. the constitution doesn't matter if the speech makes them feel bad.

  4. actually, stalin imprisoned trotsky. and its "Trotskyites" btw.

  5. i am aware of that.

and of the constant tension between the two

again, that;s a tangent. arguing whether stalin was left or right wing is absurd (since he was left wing) :) but clearly irrelevant. substitute your favorite leftwing totalitarian idiot. or read some orwell. his was a cautionary tale about leftist thoughtcontrol (ironic, since so many leftists use him to criticize rightwingers)

  6. ============
I am not a leftest either .

And another bright star on a dark Horizon, DR.Pat Robertson's friend Jay Seculo is winning lots of cases which threaten the star of David display or Christian Cross display.

You may see Jay Seculo [nickname for Jacob] on the news,
    as William O Neil says, but in a different context;
Jay doesnt take the bull or bear side.

Jay takes the right side:cool: ; nice % of judicial wins.

  7. VIOLENCE & HARASSMENT
    AT U.S. ABORTION CLINICS

Violent protests, in the form of arson, firebombing, and vandalism started in the early 1970's in the U.S. Then, as now, most of the violence appears to be the acts of religiously-motivated criminals acting alone. However, recent cases involving the assassination and attempted murder of abortion providers in both the U.S. and Canada have shown that perpetrators appear to be sheltered by a network of sympathizers.
    ...
One source reported in late 1996, that there has been "over $13 million in damage caused by violent anti-abortion groups since 1982 in over 150 arson attacks, bombings, and shootings."

  8. Don't leave out lill' corporal Adolf Hitler. Few have such an impeccable socialist pedigree like him, flag included. (NDSAP)

In fact the whole left/right nonsense is an invention and a favorite passtime of the last 2+ centuries for the French do-nothing rascals proclaiming themselves to be intellectuals. Look at recent political events in France if you need some help with this.

  9. well today's Trotskyites de jour are you favorite neocons.... they label themselves as such (neoconservatives) but are nothing of the sort(conservatives). so i guess we are talking rightwing thought control?

  10. Ricter

Then you were in error putting it in the subject line.
