The 1400 ES bar was a result of news. Specifically FOMC meeting minutes. One technique is to use bracket entries during possible volatile times. I stay abreast of major report times using these websites: http://quote.bloomberg.com/markets/ecalendar/index.html http://www.federalreserve.gov/calendar.htm -Mike
It was FOMS minutes Stepan P.S. Sorry I was late... But, I have question. Does anybody using IF1, IF2, APA ?
Please keep posting the tick charts with DOM and volume showing around FTTs on the ES. I find them useful and on topic - given that this is where we are on the syllabus. No need to annotate them unless you want to discuss in more detail.
I really struggled with yesterdayâs 10:20 bar and Iâm hoping someone would share their view of the unfolding PV action at that time. (I was REALLY hoping Spydertrader would post an ES chart last night but I havenât seen one posted). I annotated a VE on the 10:05 bar; I then saw decreasing black volume on the 10:10 and 10:15 bars as Price retraced my downward sloping channelâ âa textbook looking retraceâ I said out loud to myself. Then the 10:20 barâI saw increasing black PRV early in the bar and decided a B2B was forming so I must have missed an FTT at 10:05, then while still in the 10:20 bar I changed my mind a couple of more times waffling between continuation or change. After the 10:20 bar closed and the 10:25 was underway, I stepped back and decided, after looking at the big picture, that the 10:20 bar was just a retrace after all and I adjusted my point 3 accordingly. Using Januaryâs tools, what did I misread? Any comments or thoughts from that time period yesterday? -river
You didn't miss anything using only January tools. Your 10:05 annotation of a VE has no errors associated with it. Keep in mind, FTT's are not the only signal for change. We will discuss additional (e.g. left trend line bounce) signals for change in October. Additionally, in Intra-bar Gaussian shift occurred at the 10:20 time frame. Without the use of additional tools, you may not have 'seen' this change in real time. Try annotating the YM (even though it is in hindsight) around the time of confusion to 'see' if anything can be gleaned from the activity. - Spydertrader
I would like to share my thoughts, as I captured them live, in this series of three screenshots with annotations. It is of the time period 2:30 to approximately 2:33. These screenshots were capturing my thoughts, as action was unfolding. Please review all three, in a row as posted. I was watching for a point three to form in an up channel on ym. Price on ym is in a lateral movement. a wall is developing on the ES DOM. Tic is starting to show a 2 pair form. This is just to share my experience as I learn, not to say , what I see here is right, it is nothing more than how I viewed the market at this time period. enjoy
