Thanks Spydrtrader. This a strange stock. Take a look at the 30 min chart.

DU was reached on 11/4/2004 during the first 30 minutes of the trading day. However the price bar was a long red candle. The price continued its downward spiral for a while. However once it bottomed, it proceeded to move up with very light volume.

    It is very strange, ineed.

    Take care

This is probably due to the low average volume. The 65 ma volume for HANS is only 249k. Personally I prefer a threshold of 500k for this very reason plus the fact that the bid/ask spread will usually be tighter.

  5. SINA Corp (SINA) has returned to the Final Universe List after a four month hiatus. SINA routinely achieved anticipated gains, and consistantly cycled through the Hershey Scoring Chart when it became a tenured stock late last summer.

  6. Their seems to be a discrepancy between my MACD singals and the ones you posted. Are you using a EMA or SMA?

In terms of HANS, the big volume was the down cycle of the long trend. What then ensued was Dry Up at the right side of the channel and then an up cycle of the trend after the DU went into FRV.

  7. Our system generated two signals this morning: one long and one short. SINA had actual volume exceed calculated Dry Up Volume around 10:15 AM this morning. We see price improvement over the previous day. Both MACD (+.3287) and The Stochastic Indicator (77.2166) were within normal parameters. The only area of concern would be current price. By the time actual volume exceeded calculated dry up volume, price for SINA had already improved some $2.19 placing price outside our trend channel (See chart posted above). As a result, we will use a MACD crossover exit strategy, rather than, our normal 10% target price.

    11/11/04 10:18:03 36.46 36.44 36.46 200

HLEX generated a signal around 10:25 AM. However, we did not have price improvement. In order to short a Hershey Stock, we need MACD to be negative, and The Stochastic Indicator to be extremely low. Both MACD (-.2875) and The Stochastic Indicator (6.8712) fell within these parameters.

    11/11/04 10:27:52 13.98 13.98 13.98 500

At 10:50 AM, The Stochastic Indicator crossed above the 20 level and MACD began to slope upward signaling our exit.

    11/11/04 10:50:37 13.00 13.00 13.00 500

As we have discussed on numerous occasions, shorting Hershey Stocks falls outside the parameters of this journal. Also, posting the trade some 2 hours afterwards, (although unavoidable due to a minor 'real world' crisis) gives an impression of impropriety. As a result, I do not plan to include this trade in the Journal results.

We continue to monitor SINA looking for an exit signal.

I hope you find the above information useful.

Edit: I should also mention that HLEX hit peak volume levels just before price reversed near the low of the day.

  8. The MACD used in the Wealth Lab Charts is calculated using an SMA. The Quotetracker MACD uses EMA for its calculations. When I post 'numbers' for the MACD and Stochastics, I use the Quotetracker reported levels.

    I apologize for any confusion.

Sold 200 shares of SINA as MACD crossed into negative territory resulting in 1.00 per share gross profit. MACD was at (-.0606) when sale occurred.

  10. I was going to enter this stock but decided to pass based on the large gap. Oh well, next. I have attached my chart with what I consider the channels for this stock.
