  2. To create the following lists of stocks, I used 90 RS and 80 EPS. Using 90 RS and 90 EPS resulted in an initial stocktables.com sort of too few equities.

  3. is it possible to create an EOD equity curve of your capital from the start of the journal?

I am sure it will look like a nice smooth line going up.

  4. I'm no Excel Expert, and have no idea how to code excel to perform that task. If someone with more expertise than I where to use the data to create such a chart, feel free to post the results. I began the Journal using $50,000 USD.

    Very Impressive spyder.

I attached the equity graph below. Now, you should try to use position sizing to increase your rate of return. Eg, for every 5 K of profit, increase the no of shares trade by 100. That should be able to build up your profit slowly.

  6. First of all, nice job on the trading and the journal. One of the best in ET. In reviewing your trades, I see that over 40% of your profits came from only 2 months of trades. And, 78% of your profits came from 20% of the trades. Is this a concern going forward?

  7. Thank you johncool for taking the time to create the equity curve chart. I appreciate the effort. I'll work on increasing the position sizing slowly in an effort to improve my profits. Great Advice!

Thanks for laying out the trades by month wareco, and I appreciate your interest in the Journal. With respect to the majority of trades occurring over a few months time, I do not have concerns. The reason for this stems from the fact that many of the months with very few long trades contained significant numbers of short trades. These short trades frequently provide quick profits. Also, during the months of October, December, January & March, I went on vacation for at least a week (often for two weeks or more), and as a result, I traded far less frequently in those months. Thanks again for posting the Excel sheet.

  8. 2005-09-08, Thursday - Update

This morning, I monitored one list of stocks (9 total equities): Those equities from our daily Hot List and from our Final Universe List finding themselves "In Dry Up."

    Dry Up Stocks

CKCM CMT DCAI FORD HANS IRIS NGPS RADS SNHY

Our system generated two possible trade signals from the list of nine Dry Up Stocks when actual volume exceeded calculated "Low Band" Dry Up Volume prior to 11:30 AM.

    FORD RADS CKCM SNHY

Dry Up Stocks NOT Triggering Signal

    CMT DCAI HANS IRIS NGPS

FORD did show price improvement ($27.43) at time of signal generation (9:37 AM). In addition, MACD Histogram showed a positive return (+.3039). Also, The Stochastic Indicator fell above desired levels (94.55). As a result, entered into a long position with FORD receiving a fill price of $27.48 USD on 1000 shares.

RADS did not show price improvement ($11.47) at time of signal generation (10:12 AM). In addition, MACD Histogram showed a negative return (-.0865). Also, The Stochastic Indicator fell below desired levels (26.67). As a result, I took no action with respect to trading RADS.

CKCM did not show price improvement ($18.19) at time of signal generation (11:01 AM). In addition, MACD Histogram showed a negative return (-.0562). Also, The Stochastic Indicator fell below desired levels (12.20). As a result, I took no action with respect to trading CKCM.

SNHY did show price improvement ($20.65) at time of signal generation (11:03 AM). In addition, MACD Histogram showed a positive return (+.0151). Also, The Stochastic Indicator fell above desired levels (86.21). As a result, entered into a long position with SNHY receiving a fill price of $20.67 USD on 1000 shares.

  9. 2005-09-08, Thursday - Update

Only FORD of our list of Dry Up Stocks reached FRV levels by EOD.

As a result, I sold all shares of SNHY at the $20.69 price point. This intraday trade yielded a single day gross profit of $20 USD or a wash trade on 1000 shares.

Due to price on FORD reaching a 5% increase, I sold half of my shares of FORD at the $28.80 price point. This intraday trade yielded a single day gross profit of $660 USD or a 5% gain on 1000 shares.

I continue to hold 500 shares of FORD and plan to do so at least until tomorrow.
