2005-08-24, Wednesday - Update This morning, I monitored one list of stocks (6 total equities): Those equities from our daily Hot List and from our Final Universe List finding themselves "In Dry Up." Dry Up Stocks CKCM DCAI DPTR MCRI SNHY VDSI Our system generated one possible trade signal from the list of six Dry Up Stocks when actual volume exceeded calculated "Low Band" Dry Up Volume prior to 11:30 AM. Dry Up Stocks Triggering Signal SNHY Dry Up Stocks NOT Triggering Signal CKCM DCAI DPTR MCRI VDSI SNHY did not show price improvement ($19.60) at time of signal generation (10:50 AM). In addition, MACD Histogram showed a negative return (-.3334). Also, The Stochastic Indicator fell below desired levels (5.19). As a result, I took no action with respect to SNHY. I also sold half my shares (500) of NGPS this morning as price ran up above a 5% gain. I received a fill price of $28.36 USD. This overnight trade yielded a gross profit of $805 USD or a 6% gain on 500 shares. I continue to HOLD the remaining 500 shares of NGPS from the $26.75 price point. - Spydertrader
Spydertrader, I respect your judgement because you are making money. The proof is in the pudding. I see you used a 5% target on day 2 to sell half of position on stock which exceeded FRV but not peak.. Is this a straightforward criteria or are there other conditions combined with the 5% target? I'm still holding position with trailing 5% stop from high last price of 28.47.
When price hit the 5% Target yesterday, I briefly mentioned to another trader my thoughts regarding selling half of my NGPS position. While considering my options, price took a dramatic turn downward, and as a result, I missed my opportunity. Today, the market provided me another chance to bank some profits. I had no intention of allowing the opportunity to pass me by a second time. In addition, I had in the back of my mind a lost opportunity to bank 5% during the JMDT trade earlier this month. I failed to bank profits during that trade, and I ended up with a loss on JMDT. As August often provides fewer opportunities for traders (in general) to profit from their efforts, I decided it better to play conservative rather than risk another losing result. Hope that helps. - Spydertrader
2005-08-25, Thursday - Update None of our Dry Up Stocks reached FRV levels by EOD. Price continued to fall with respect to NGPS today triggering my 5% trailing stop. As a result, I sold the remaining shares (500) of NGPS receiving a fill price of $27.13 USD. This overnight trade yielded a gross profit of $190 USD or a 1.5% gain on 500 shares. - Spydertrader

Spydertrader, Have you experimented with showing more time on the chartscripts? It would be interesting to see what the chartscript graph would look like if it displayed all of the moves for the last 2 years instead of 6 months. I am wondering what the Hershey Mega Cycle looks like, if there is one. Gooch87
While knowing how well a certain Hershey Stock cycled 2 years ago might prove interesting, one cannot look back in time solely by looking at the number of cycles and expect to glean much pertinent information. The reason for this stems from our fundamental screening and culling process used to obtain our initial sort from stocktables.com web site. We have know way of quickly determining if a particular equity met our EPS, Average Volume or Float criteria at various points in time. In addition, Stocktables.com ranks via RS based on how well a stock performed (relative to all other equities in the sort) over the last year. Although they update RS and EPS rank daily, Stocktables.com places more weight on the last year and last quarter with respect to EPS rank. As a result, I saw no reason to include cycles which occurred 2 years in the past. Even if they occurred with extreme regularity, I have no way of knowing for sure, if the equity in question would have made its way into the Final Universe. Hope that helps. - Spydertrader
