  2. 2005-08-01, Monday - Update

This morning, I monitored one list of stocks (5 total equities): Those equities from our daily Hot List and from our Final Universe List finding themselves "In Dry Up."

    Dry Up Stocks

    DCAI ENER IIG SNHY TASR

Our system generated two possible trade signals from the list of five Dry Up Stocks when actual volume exceeded calculated "Low Band" Dry Up Volume prior to 11:30 AM.

    Dry Up Stocks Triggering Signal

    ENER SNHY

Dry Up Stocks NOT Triggering Signal

    DCAI IIG TASR

SNHY did show price improvement ($31.51) at time of signal generation (9:47 AM). In addition, MACD Histogram showed a positive return (+.1185). Also, The Stochastic Indicator fell above desired levels (86.02). As a result, I entered into a long position receiving a fill price of $31.50 USD on 1000 shares of SNHY.

ENER did show price improvement ($25.60) at time of signal generation (10:28 AM). In addition, MACD Histogram showed a positive return (+.0983). However, The Stochastic Indicator fell below desired levels (77.67). As a result, I took no action with respect to trading ENER.

  3. 2005-08-01, SNHY - Update

I may have jumped the gun a bit here on SNHY, but several minutes before EOD, it appeared to me as if actual volume for SNHY would fail to exceed FRV levels by EOD. As a result, I sold all shares of SNHY receiving a fill price of $31.80 USD on 1000 shares. Moments after I sold, actual volume on SNHY eventually did exceed calculated FRV levels. However, this intraday trade yielded a gross profit of +$300 USD or a gain of 1%.

  4. Hi:

I just want to suggest a couple of things.

First, I think Spydertrader has done everyone a big favor "translating" many of the key elements of the Hershey method "into english". I couldn't do it. Its an accomplishment.

Second, it seems interesting that many of you can't seem to find the motivation or the discipline to take the time to really study the background material at the beginning of the thread. From my point of view its like someone put a steak in front of you, and then you ask them to cut it up for you so you can eat it. :D

This stands out as one of the differences between winners and loser in this business. Losers seem to talk the talk, but can't find the discipline or the motivation to really study and "internalize" the material. In contrast, winners among us see the opportunity right there and are willing to do the work.

    Thanks Spyder.
    Steve

  6. 2005-08-02, Tuesday - Update

This morning, I monitored one list of stocks (3 total equities): Those equities from our daily Hot List and from our Final Universe List finding themselves "In Dry Up."

    Dry Up Stocks

    ENER IIG RTSX

Our system generated three possible trade signals from the list of three Dry Up Stocks when actual volume exceeded calculated "Low Band" Dry Up Volume prior to 11:30 AM.

    Dry Up Stocks Triggering Signal

    ENER IIG RTSX

Dry Up Stocks NOT Triggering Signal

    None (All Three Signaled)

ENER did show price improvement ($26.00) at time of signal generation (10:26 AM). In addition, MACD Histogram showed a positive return (+.1887). Also, The Stochastic Indicator fell above desired levels (100.00). As a result, I entered into a long position receiving a fill price of $25.90 USD on 1000 shares of ENER.

IIG did not show price improvement ($11.15) at time of signal generation (10:33 AM). In addition, MACD Histogram showed a negative return (-.0965). Also, The Stochastic Indicator fell below desired levels (22.22). As a result, I took no action with respect to trading IIG.

RTSX did not show price improvement ($25.56) at time of signal generation (10:37 AM). In addition, MACD Histogram showed a negative return (-.1583). Also, The Stochastic Indicator fell below desired levels (8.40). As a result, I took no action with respect to trading RTSX.

I've been papertrading this system for a little while. I had JUPM on my Watchlist yesterday, was up by EOD and FRV was reached according to my calculations.

What I failed to notice and is probably a great to be aware of for this system is that JUPM was to announce earnings after hours.

I believe Jack or SpyderTrader has said to not trade a stock that is announcing earnings. The reason being the huge and unpredictable volatility that tends to occur on the day of an EPS announcement. JUPM took a huge plunge on a big gap down today turning a winning position into a sizeable loser - at least for this system.

Just thought I'd share that as a reminder to anyone using the system or forward testing - make sure you check for EPS announcements on the Watchlisted stocks!

  8. Well Steve, your unprovoked attack on the weak has not gone unnoticed. Being human, I too can feel exasperation with some questions. When this happens, I have to remind myself that we all learn differently and at different rates and to be patient. Tolerance is a virtue we should all practice.

On the other hand, listening to emotionally unbalanced people lose control CAN be entertaining.

  9. What time did u enter this trade? Did you enter immiediately after the trigger.. I dont see how you got the 25.90 fill unless u entered on the pullback after 11am.

I am curious as to how long of a delay until u actually enter the position once it signals.
