I was watching DCAI, KNDL and TRGL none of them reached FRV today.

DCAI was the only one that triggered a signal but price was down so it was eliminated.

First post on Elite Trader. Spydertrader, I have to compliment you on the journals, your willingness to share and your professionalism. I have read all of journal two and am half-way through journal one. I am a professional bond trader for a national brokerage but the methods in my business do not translate well into yours. I am learning Jack's method but it's going to take some time. I've got time to learn so I'm in no hurry. My question to you and the board in general is if anyone has used the IBD 100 as their initial universe? I have not seen this mentioned yet in either of the journals.

  4. You mean replacing stocktables.com with IBD 100? I think it's a good idea. I will try it.

I may have answered my own question. I forgot the stocktables sort has price limits. My guess is that the $50.00 price is an arbitrary number.

  6. No, your idea is whether this stuff will work with stocks not limited by the stocktables.com parameters. I never like trading low-price stocks.

  7. As suggested by MBTrader:

    IBD 100 Final Universe:

BOOM CTHR CUTR HANS LUFK NWRE

No signal for tommorrow. I am gonna try trading this.

  8. Glad to have you following the discussion, MBTrader. I hope you have found the many Journal Posts helpful to the learning process.

Jack has often suggested using Investors Business Daily as a source for initial culling of a universe. Since IBD also seeks "high quality stocks" for inclusion into their various lists, one could begin a culling process from the IBD 100 and arrive at a similar Daily Watch List.

Reviewing Jack's numerous posts on the subject of equities trading reveals much more than a laundry list of items to "check off" in order to enter into profitable trades. Jack set certain culling parameters for specific reasons. Changing some of the parameters may or not produce results significantly different than those previously reported. However, certain parameters require a more strict adherence to the rules if one hopes to achieve or exceed Jack's stated results.

Innovation and iterative refinement often produces improved results. However, jumping from ones set of trading rules to another under a mistaken belief of 'improving' the system performance remains a recipe for disaster. Only after thoroughly testing a new paradigm and careful analysis of comparative results, should one seek to place real dollars into any new trading methodology.

    Good Trading to you all.

  10. Spydie,

I am not gonna post the IBD stuff here but I feel if the system doesn't work just because I change from stocktables.com to IBD (I think they are very similar) ... that would bother me. Didn't you mention a couple of times that CANSLIM people seems to help pump JH stocks when the two universes intercepted?

Here is the thing I PM you last time, I put the images side by side. I ran the script only seconds apart... maybe a minute. I think the zero-ing out DU1,...,DU5 will fix this.
