jpwood, excellent script, thank you for your contribution. I like the two price and volume MACDs at the top of the chart.

When I use the script to scan my initial universe, I can't get any stock in the final ranking list although the script does trace the 5 price cycles when I run it on a single stock, like BOOM.

I checked the ScanProcedure, the only condition I see to print a stock rank and PVAD status (AddScanColumn) is 5 price rises, so I don't understand why the scan doesn't produce any output.

    The same happens here

No time to dig in the script right now (by the way ..nice piece of code), anyway scan function do not produces results atm.

  3. First let me say that what I have observed may or may not be a consistent or useful adjunct to the JH procedure. I've tried it twice with success. I need to back test to see if it is useful at least 50% of the time. So I probably won't be mentioning it any more unless I verify it as being predictable.

That said, the process is pretty easy and seems intuitively correct. My dry-up stocks are selected in the evenings per Spydertrader's instruction set from the earlier journal. Nothing unusual at this point. My two selections for Dec 2 were NFLX and NGPS.

When trading starts, I use a two day chart with a 30-min period. The previous day's 30 minute price/volume movements show up as candlesticks and as bars on the volume histogram.

If the current day's volume and price movement continues a spike in the positive price/volume movement begun at the close of the prior day, I add the prior day's volume, shown on the volume histogram to current day volumes.

In effect I can reach the lower band trigger point up to an hour earlier than using current day volume. So far it seems that by jumping in a bit earlier, you can capture a jump in price that is would otherwise missed by holding till the current day's lower band is met. Note that I said "So Far" - two for two.

Again, current day volumes, MACD, and Stoch must all be heading toward the JH buy signal before I consider adding the prior day's EOD volumes to current day volumes.

WilliamV, Thank you for your input, turns out that I have been looking at the wrong data for earnings for quite some time. I feel really stupid about this. Live and Learn.
In addition to the lesson learned above and Because of my inexperience with trading individual stocks, I have stopped using the MSN Screener and use Stocktables.com now. Jack puts a lot of weight on getting the right stocks in the Universe.

Even though I am a beginner to this, I am still profitable. For the Month of Nov. I am up 3.60% Nov. is the month that I have started keeping my detailed log.

    Good trading,

  5. I like BTUI and REDF as additions.

They seem to be at the right side of my IT channels. I will wait for the break of the short term downtrend for possible entry.

    Quote from gooch87:

Dry up for Monday the 5th
    Looks like the usual suspects...

BOOM CTHR ELOS IRIS JMDT KNDL PETS

FYI my scans show your list plus NGPS in du.

Those long tails on the upper side of the last 4 days are not really promising though

  7. Agree on your adds to the FU.

I'm showing the same stocks on my list for Monday plus I also have NGPS.

A few of these have a high short interest ratio (SIR): shares short/float:

    BOOM 54%
    JMDT 31%
    ELOS 19%

So far in my very limited amount and statistically meaningless testing of the high SIR stocks vs ones with low SIR, the high SIRs are doing better. But I'll wait til I have 25 trades of the high SIRs before I publish my results.

  8. For those individuals who regularly check the news each morning with respect to Final Universe Stocks, I have created a simple URL for checking all the symbols at one time. Using Yahoo Finance, simply add or subtract symbols as needed from the address bar by adding "+WMT" (as an example) to the URL without the quotation marks.

    Final Universe News Link

    Hope you find this useful.

    Great link.
This spreadsheet creates the URL. You just have to paste your symbols in column A, hit the "URL" button and click the link. Hopefully it will make it a little easier.

The hyperlink did not sync with the displayed URL on the first one. This version does. (sorry)
