did well on ILMN today. (signal for me was 10/16) entry on 10/17. explosion on 10/18, bet if i was trading 100k shares i'd hear from the SEC yeah?
No problem. If anyone has any further suggestions, there is a link on the page that yo can use to email me.
I enjoyed another great trip to Tucson this week, but have much to do this morning before jumping back in with both feet. Playing catch up at the moment, but do plan to return to posting by the end of today. If anyone has a question they feel needs further clarification, feel free to re-post, and I'll respond as time permits. - Spydertrader
I jumped into XING this morning hoping to catch another rocket trade. Unfortunately, XING turned into an FBO and came back down to earth as quickly as it launched. As such, I sold all 500 shares for a $50.00 USD loss. MIKR performed nicely today with price running right up to the Intermediate Trendline before heading back south. For those who like to short, DTLK signaled right around the $11.75 USD price point and has tumbled about a buck and a half since. Nice trades (MIKR and DTLK) for those that took them. If anyone continues to have trouble with exists, look to the daily chart and the trendline annotations to provide signals for exiting the stocks. Once you see price bounce off the left trendline (speaking from a long perspective), time to bank your profits. as one gains experience, improved use of volume metrics provides an informed decision for holding though the occasional trendline break. Good trading to all. - Spydertrader
Hi All, I discovered this excellent journal just a few weeks ago and I would like to thank Spydertrader and all who have contributed some excellent information and scripts. I have read both journals and all the additional material and the videos and I am beginning to grasp the basics as I begin papertrading. Thanks again.
got to the game late again today but was still able to catch a rocket on MIKR 13.77 entry 14.3025 exit 3.8% profit
What do you mean when you say it "signaled"? Are you using an eyeball approach, or are you using alerts in QCharts to notify you of these kind of events? With DTLK in particular, volume has been increasing steadily over the past week and was well above its 65d average which had pretty much taken it off my watch lists. I have been toying with some ideas of raising a signal if pro-rata volume will exceed the previous day's volume by more than X%, but I haven't figured out what percent to use yet. Is this what you're doing, or are you doing something far simpler like just sorting the FU by Unusual Volume and keeping an eye on the top several stocks? Good advice. I've just re-read the first journal and have been toying with some Bruno-R setups, using very small size. Results haven't been encouraging, largely because I've seen my gains disappear and my losses grow. As I work through these, I've come to appreciate how much skill you must have gained, and how much sublety you are using with your exits. So much to learn...
Not sure if it has been mentioned or not, but the September and October Camtasia videos of Jack's IBD talks in Tuscon are up at http://www.traderuniverse.info/hersheyvideos.htm
Notice how price runs down through the current channel on increased volume? In addition, DTLK finds itself atop the Unusual Volume sort this morning and remained there all day. The market signals you in advance it plans to head down by showing increasing red volume bars over the last three days, while price sat at the top of the intermediate trend. See chart below. With respect to Bruno R trades, the best ones materialize after price bounces off a rightside trendline in conjunction with a rising MACD. I prefer the dominant traverse, but a trader can extract money from the non-dominant traverse as price forms a new point three formation. One simply must adjust for the increased risk. I hope that helps. - Spydertrader <img src=http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/attachment.php?s=&postid=1236534>
