My position was up 4% at the high of the day. I was really really tempted to sell half the position then because of a similar GIGM trade a coupla days ago. Didn't do it because "this time it's gonna be different" Nah.
Hi chiefraven, and welcome, if I understand correctly... after having your 3 lists of stocks, the next step is to run them through the Equity RANK SCAN V1.0.0 so you can bulk scan the lists to see which ones have a rank. Following this, you then can cull further for float etc, if you haven't already done so... Hope this helps... Cheers.
gpzany, yes i know i have to run them through that chatscript called Hershey Equities Rank ... but the version 1 of that program gives me nothing ..... now if i run the newest version which is version 4... it shows the rank, score and offset on the chart.... but no matter what symbol i entered.. the rank is always NONE just try it out yourself. i'm not sure if it's because there's something wrong with the program because it's not updated or something... but give it a shot yourself.... let me know what you think
Two things: 1/ You still missed the difference between the scripts: you keep referring to the RANK scripts, whereas I referred you to the RANK SCAN script V1.0.0 - totally different. The RANK scripts - which we are now at version 4 are used AFTER all the culling, to get the Dry up figures as well as rank and score, also to review a chart of the symbol. 2/ As to the symbols not getting a rank, maybe the symbols you have selected do not have a rank. Can you post some symbols that you have put through the scripts? Or try some of the symbols that we have been trading ie - try COGO. See how you go... PS. I have just run my final universe through the RANK SCAN V1.0.0 script and got the following figures: 8/9/2006 ANDE Buy 133 Market N/A Rank: 3.90 8/9/2006 ASPV Buy 209 Market N/A Rank: 4.09 8/9/2006 BTUI Buy 517 Market N/A Rank: 3.80 8/9/2006 CBEY Buy 236 Market N/A Rank: 5.20 8/9/2006 CFK Buy 347 Market N/A Rank: 3.79 8/9/2006 COGO Buy 417 Market N/A Rank: 3.13 8/9/2006 DXPE Buy 149 Market N/A Rank: 5.37 8/9/2006 EMKR Buy 800 Market N/A Rank: 5.53 8/9/2006 EZPW Buy 136 Market N/A Rank: 3.99 8/9/2006 FTEK Buy 369 Market N/A Rank: 4.03 8/9/2006 GIGM Buy 574 Market N/A Rank: 4.70 8/9/2006 GMXR Buy 145 Market N/A Rank: 3.58 8/9/2006 GROW Buy 260 Market N/A Rank: 3.68 7/14/2006 HOM Buy 687 Market N/A Rank: 9.28 8/9/2006 IIG Buy 355 Market N/A Rank: 4.25 8/9/2006 ININ Buy 394 Market N/A Rank: 6.34 8/9/2006 JOBS Buy 342 Market N/A Rank: 5.19 8/9/2006 LMIA Buy 235 Market N/A Rank: 4.45 8/9/2006 MED Buy 296 Market N/A Rank: 5.73 8/9/2006 NEU Buy 89 Market N/A Rank: 3.92 8/9/2006 NWRE Buy 426 Market N/A Rank: 2.78 8/9/2006 RACK Buy 258 Market N/A Rank: 3.35 8/9/2006 SFCC Buy 298 Market N/A Rank: 7.30 8/9/2006 SMDI Buy 568 Market N/A Rank: 4.79 8/9/2006 SMSI Buy 492 Market N/A Rank: 4.27 8/9/2006 TFSM Buy 639 Market N/A Rank: 3.92 8/9/2006 TIE Buy 188 Market N/A Rank: 3.86 8/9/2006 TXCO Buy 423 Market N/A Rank: 4.94 8/9/2006 XING Buy 480 Market N/A Rank: 4.90
hey there... i'm only at the beginning of spyder's first journal... i am not sure if the method has been modified a little bit, but you can take a look at the link: http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=38777 i'm on the first page... basically today i was trying to follow what he says on there step by step by finding stocks from that day (8/9/06). I did tried to find the 100 stocks by setting RS >80 EPS>80 Dollar min = 10 Max dollar = 50.. and the rest to ALL the reason i used EPS>80 was because 90 didnt' give me enough stocks. anyway. from stocktables.com i was able to compile up the 3 short lists. List 1: LIFC EGN CHRW INT DNR AKAM PSSI SKX LTR NRF List2: PCLN SYKE DRY TFR ALJ IAG SBS FTO MTW HEI List3: EYE LUV HITT NBL WSTC AHT SII OCN ISSX PDS now from his first journal he posted the link to http://www.wealth-lab.com/cgi-bin/W...system?id=32994 which is the older hershey equities rank v .1.0.0 ..... which doesn t work because it doesn't show any rank or score on the chart..... but when i switched to Hershey Equities Rank v. 4.0.0 the newest version... i was able to get rank/score and stop offset on the top left corner of the chart.... but all the stocks i have on my list all my a rank of NONE though..... and yes your'e right that COGO stock you gave me did work ..... the rank is 3.13 i believe. Would you mind checking my lists for me if you dont mind? somehow all of these stocks dont have any ranks also, what's the score shown on the chart when i run the program? i thought we are only using a score system of 1, 0, and 7? and what exactly are these Float numbers and DU? Would you elaborate on them a little bit more? hey by the way, do you use msn or aim or something? i'd like to chat with you about the spyder+hershey method if you're free sometime.
The answers are there in the Journal. Spydertrader, Jack Hershey and the rest of the community have gone through great lengths to lay out all of their thinking on this strategy and share it with you. The least you could do is to read it first before looking for handholding. Hey, I'm a noobie too and have lots of dumb questions. I'm speaking from recent experience when I tell you that doing your homework is the best way to learn.
I have a question for the QT users here. It is more of a general question and not really specific to the hershey methodology. Anyways, I am looking at QT right now (Aug 10, 8am EST) and KNOT and HANS both have levels for the volume column and Vol%, as well as levels in the change and value change columns. All the other stocks listed are blank for these columns because the market has not opened yet. Is this premarket activity, and if so how come it is not showing up in my intraday charts or the time and sales? Im really new to QT so maybe I have set something up wrong, but everything seems to be working fine. Does anyone else using QT see the samething?
I leave quotes turned off on QT until the market opens. The reason is that I use the volume alert feature of QT and it will falsely trigger on yesterday's volume if I turn on quotes before 0930. I don't trade pre-market so I don't look at pre-market quotes except for futures, and that's just to see market bias for the start of the day.
