It is very possible, but I chose not to due to the fact that there is no real definitive list of the final universe.

  2. I looked and couldn't find one. Maybe replace Quote.com with Edgar.com or another suggestion used frequently by another poster.

    Nicely done.

  3. There is this website that i found on this Journal posted couple of days ago:

    http://networknt.com/wiki/index.php?title=Final_Universe

which is providing the updated Final Universe and watchlist stocks.

If you can find a way to read the info from this website and default it into the field.

As a note please provide the date of the list as the site may not get updated some days.

I'm not a programmer, so i'm not sure if this can be something that can be done. If it can be done than it will be really cool.

  4. The individual who posted the link to the web site you mention above intends to write a book on the subject of Hershey Trading one day. Unfortunately, the entire web site contains information directly lifted from both Journals, rather than, written in the web site author's own words. In addition, the Final Universe listed on the web site contains several inaccuracies. As a result, I do not recommend using that Final Universe as a guide. Of course, your mileage may vary.

I'll look into adding other data sources and giving the option of importing a final universe from a common source as well.

I added a button that retrieves the 65 day avg. vol. from Yahoo historical quotes using the actual last 65 days of trading volume so it is an up to date accurate number.

I think I finally have a 0.9 version of some of my Hershy utilities. They're a bit of a grab bag, and with some of the other utilities posted here, there will be some overlap. Hopefully some people will find them useful.

It is large because of all of the 3rd party libraries. If someone is interested, we can probably remove some of these to slim it down, but I write stuff like this to play with new tools, so I'm not the right guy to strip all of the fun stuff out. And I've already downloaded it, so the size doesn't bug *me* :)

The source code is in lib/hershey-scans.jar if anyone is interested. I left this open source in the spirit of the Hershey community, and I want keep it open, so if you make changes or extensions, please send me your changes and share them with the rest of the community. Details in the GPL license. Thanks.

    This is from the README:

    --------
This is a collection of utilities that help traders with the Jack Hershey Method.

    To install the utilities:

    1. extract the zip file into a new directory, <dir>\hershey_scan

    2. Confirm that you have 'Java 5' installed on your computer.

Open up a command window (Start > Run > cmd) and type the command 'java -version' and
make sure the version is 1.5 or higher:

    C:\tools\init_scan>java -version
    java version "1.5.0_07"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_07-b03)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.5.0_07-b03, mixed mode, sharing)

If this doesn't work or you have an older version, you need to install the latest
    version of Java from http://java.com/en/download/index.jsp.

    3. Configure the wealth-lab.com and stocktables.com properties:

In your new directory, open 'WealthLab.properties' in your favourite text editor.
Set your user & passwords for wealth-lab.com and stocktables.com as described in
the header comments of the file. Ensure that the other properties match your
    system.

    To run the utilities:

    1. Scan your wealth-lab.com final universe for dry up stocks:

    Run 'dryup.bat'

    2. Print a list of all of the earnings dates for all of the stocks in your
    wealth-lab.com final universe:

    Run 'wl-earnings.bat'

    3. Log on to stocktables.com, scan for stocks with high EPS and RS, filter these
based on their float and average volume, compare this list with your wealth-lab.com
final universe, and add any stocks which may be missing.

    Run 'fullscan.bat'

I'm trying to learn the Bruno R setups and have been taking a few trades with reduced size while waiting for the beginner setups to materialize. I'm also trying to retrain myself to get away from a day trading mindset when .10 is a big deal :)

Today, I had RHAT on my coming buy list since the fast and slow stoch were low, MACD was low and begining to diverge, and the short term channel looks positive.

At 10:00, the daily fast stoch rose to >50, MACD was positive, and it was near the top of the unusual volume list. The 30 min chart looked good (slow stoch >75, MACD >0, up-trending chnnel) so I bought in at 21.82.

RHAT hit 22.43 before dropping back to my entry price, breaking down out of the 30 min channel, but not hitting my stop offset.

Would anyone else have taken this trade? Did you (or do you) see any warning signs?

    Thanks for any insights.

I wasn't using the script. I've tried, but haven't figured out how to apply it, yet. I spent the evening to visually assemble a list of stocks which are ready to go (low stoch, macd converging), and a list of stocks which are going (fast stoch moving up through 50, MACD diverging), and then monitor them for unusual volume and price action.

All of this is using daily charts only.

I'll enter when the daily is showing the "high noon" (fast stoch moving through 50) with a good place in the channel and the 30 min chart is looking favourable (slow stoch > 75, and MACD > 0), also in a good place in the channel.

I would like to learn how to use Spydertrader's Bruno R script more.

How does this compare to your Bruno R interpretation?
