  2. Spyder,

Here are some of my hypothetical trades based on early volume/time parameters. As a result of the Bruno_R scripts I found I was mistakenly using EMA(5) - EMA(8) as my MACD signal.
Suprisingly after I fixed my macd calculation there was little change in the results.

For all trades listed DULow before 1030 and duavg before 1130 else exit position at 1130
All other rules as documented in this journal.

May trades results differed from last posting as a result of open trades closed in
    June.

Spytrader ...... have been reviewing Journal l while trying to understand current data in Journal ll.

Since your methods have changed since the opening comments of Journal l am wondering how your results with current setups/methods compare with the results you were getting with your original methods/setups?

    Has it been a fractional % improvement .... a multiple % improvement ... or ____ ?

    Thanks.

  5. Journal One focused on what Jack would term 'Beginner Methods' for trading equities. In Journal One, we focused exclusively on Dry Up Volume as a precursor for entering into a long position (when signaled). In Journal Two, the iterative refinement process has added significant value to the Beginner Methods, as well as, bringing more Intermediate Methods to light. These Intermediate Methods use the sequences of Indicators to determine sound areas for buying and selling equities. While it may appear Beginner and Intermediate Methods have no relationship other than their use on the same Quality Universe, in reality, both methods signal a trade at different points in the natural cycle. Jack's 'Bruno R' becomes an 'Equity Rocket' as volume transitions from Dry Up (or 'ambient level' volume) to FRV.

Adding the Intermediate Methods of Journal Two to The Beginner Methods discussed in Journal One, has improved my own trading. As to how much of the improvement resulted from iterative refinement vs. adding on the Intermediate Methods, I cannot say.

However, one need look no further than the results posted by 888broc (above) to see the potential behind iterative refinement. Simply by adding an additional confirmation (Average DU by 11:30 AM) to a Low Band DU entry, 888broc showed remarkable results during a major market downturn. Not bad.

  7. Just so I have your results clear ...

    All Long entry:

    Entry:

    1. LBDU Volume Threshold exceeded before 10:30 AM Eastern Time
    2. Current Price > Previous Day Close
    3. MACD (5,13,6) Histogram > 0 (positive on a 30 minute chart)
    4. Stochastics (14,1,3) %K line > 80 (30 minute chart)

    Hold:

    1. Average DU Volume Threshold exceeded by 11:30 AM Eastern
    2. Else, Exit

    EOD:

    1. FRV Threshold exceeded by 4:00 PM Eastern time
    2. Else, Exit

Above rule set monitors a Watch List of stocks finding themselves In Dry Up the night before.

Do I have the above entry rules correct, or have I omitted an important parameter?

  10. Spydertrader, I am on my way finishing the second journal and I still like the methods a lot and the quality of this thread is excellent! I am struggling a bit with the Bruno R set up. I read the document of JH about this set up but because of English is not my native language I find it very difficult to understand his post about this set up.

What I understand about this set up is that you are looking for stocks that have pulled back to the bottom of a channel (because of this a low stochastic reading) and stalling out there or moving a bit up but not to rapidly (the reason for the stochastic crossing up again) and entering there. If I am wrong about this please correct me.

Finding this set up is just looking at all the charts in the FU and see if a stock meets these criteria. What I still dont understand is in what way do you use volume in this set up or do you just trade the chart pattern it self? I think this set up is a lot more subjective than the original JH trades you posted in the first journal and because of that harder to explain. BTW do you still trade the original set ups discussed in journal 1 or are you more and more trading the Bruno R set up instead of the original set up? Thanks in advance.
