  1. Hello, from what I understand there's no definitive method for calculating dry up. However, somewhere I saw this link and would like to use these as a starting point. I don't speak TC2000 but would think that AVGV30 means a 30 period simple moving average of volume. Correct? What then is AVGV3.6? A 3.6 period average? Or the 3 period average 6 periods ago? Other? Thanks.

  2. I have never used the TC2000 equations, and therefore, cannot speak intelligently on the matter. However, JAck has also posted this set of equations in the past:

In addition, I have attached the work of another trader with respect to translating Jack's Equations into Metastock. I cannot comment to their efficacy, but they might assist your translation none the less.

I will consider including % gain info in any future posts I may make of cumulative-trades data.
With respect to the trade with the 1.49 gain. That was for CKCM on January 30th. That was a paper-trade.
DUVolume alert went off at 9:44am, MACD at .02, Stochastics at 82, price above prior days close. Buy price
based at 28.00 and the EOD price, approximate MOC market-on-close price if it had been a live trade, was 29.49, for about a 5.3% gain.
CKCM had a rank that day of 4.3 and its closing price of 29.49 was approximately 8.3% above the prior days close.

  9. nrtc,

Great post. I'd like to clarify something if I may with regard to stocks coming on/off your dry up list.

Are you saying that stocks remain in your 'dry up' list, so long as they haven't moved more than 5%, even if they are not in dry up anymore? I'll illustrate with an example below. Starting stock price is 10, so a 5% move would be to 10.50. Each price is closing price for the day.

Day 0 10.00 In Dry Up Entered into Dry up list
Day 1 10.20 Not in Dry Up Still on list
Day 2 10.35 Not in Dry Up Still on list
Day 3 10.60 Removed from Dry Up List.
    ..
    ..
Day 10 (first time In Dry Up) Placed back on list.

  10. Hi,

I've had a few people PM me with a couple of issue with the Amibroker files I posted a little while ago.

I have attached to this message a 'cleaned up' version of the rank/score file.

This should work on any relatively recent version of Amibroker, e.g. 4.70 or above and definitely works on the latest releaes (4.80.1).

It works on EOD Data only and is effectively the Amiboker version of Spyders wealth-lab file. The two afl files names are self-explanatory.

The first will test for rank (> 5 20% moves in 6 months). You can change the size of the move (i.e. the 20%) via parameters dialogue box.

The second is the same dry up volume.afl that I posted previously, but have included it for convenience. It uses all Dry Up formulas posted thus far and if any of them are true, changes the volume bar to white.

You can explore for both dry up and stocks with 'rank' in both files.
