  1. Spyder,

You are exactly right and I tried to point that out in my caveats.
I did not want to go back to far cause I wasn't sure how much my March 31, 2006 DU values would effect the results. That was why I went back only 3 months.

My main observations I wanted to point out are:

    1) The market is not always moving up and there will be down
    months.
    2) Complete automation is difficult due to the art part.
IE. trend channel analysis, earning announcements, etc.

BTW: I am impressed with the results, your trading knowledge
and for the most part the integrity of the responses found in this journal.

  2. Thank you for the kind words with respect to the Journal. I hope you continue to find the commentary located here helpful.

I neglected to mention one other thing which should help to improve those results. Other traders have noticed (with their own tests) an improved rate of return if one waits to sell until the next morning after actual volume fails to exceed FRV on the previous day. Rather than sell at EOD, waiting to sell a few minutes into the opening bar usually provides a slight bump in profits. Over time, these small amounts add up to significant dollars.

Thanks again for commenting, and I hope you find the above information useful. I look forward to your future results.

Here's a play that I like at the moment... BNT
30 mins chart... not a recommendation!

I feel great! I've gone through the stock selection process and BNT was on my radar screen. Everything looked good this A.M. except the stochastics didn't go above 80. So, following the rules, I didn't buy it.

Thanks for posting and thereby verifying that I may be starting to understand the approach.

ps. how do you get the chart to appear in the message? It doesn't in the "preview"

It'll be interesting to watch how this unfolds. Indicators seem to show positive divergences, while my channel analysis says that BNT is in a horizontal retracement in a down trend that should resume sometimes next week. Earnings are scheduled for 5/10, put/call ratio is 0.75 (average 1), and there are only two analysts following, both recommending "strong sell".

I always take a look at the longer time frames too.

  7. Once you have attached and posted your chart, click on the attachment and highlight the 'address' in the web browser address bar. Click copy. Return to your post and click edit. Type into the post "url=highlihgted address goes here" Add < then a > on either end. Do not include the quotation marks.

I've actually learned how to make images to appear from Spyder... steps:
    1) Submit your post with the attached image
    2) Right click the attachment and copy the URL for the image
    3) Edit the post adding the following line (replace the * with <):
    * img url="image's url">*/img*

    cheers

  9. We enjoyed a pretty good week with respect to the number and quality of signals generated. I hope many of you profited - especially those new to trading in general or just beginning to learn Jack Hershey's Methods in specific. In addition, I appreciate the commentary posted by everyone. Through this continually improving collaborative iterative refinement process many continue to benefit (myself included). Again, thank you all for your continued participation, and ....

    Enjoy a most excellent weekend.

Another confession - I did it again - "I am front-running you guys".
I did it last month on FORD - I do not know if you got a signal on that one.
And again the last few days on BNT. I hope you get a signal on this one!

I explained my thinking in a post in the original journal - I think this gets you there - http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&postid=780057#post780057 - And, at that time Spyder (see the next post in that journal) did not have a problem with my activity prior to you getting your signals.

I find it very difficult to go through all the stuff you guys do to get signials, so, I just do fundamental analysis on some of your 'watchlist' stocks and make buy decisions based on other factors.

I do have to say thanks to all who are contributing to this Journal - you have really helped me in my selection process.

Spyder - does your thinking that you posted on the bottom of page 228 on your first journal remain the same?

    Thanks, Wayne
