Let me ask a slighty different question. Till now I've been trading using dryup and following the journal for the last year +. I'm looking at buying stocks that are at the point of the cycle where they score a 7. I have the following 4 stocks in that category tonight: CKCM ENG LMS (4 20% and 1 19.1% per my #'s) GROW THey all have a BOP over .3, they all have the volume, float, EPS and RS requirements met. My questions are twofold: 1. By default you are buying stocks in this scenario that were up the prior day In some cases these stocks were up quite a bit today. Are there or should there be any limits, for instance you are looking for stocks that went up at least 1% but less than 2% or something similar. 2. I understand all the rules around buying dryup stocks (11am, Stochastics, etc.) Are there any additional rules to buying based on the cycle that you follow to trigger the purchase? Also, it would be easy to create a scan that says show me all "7"s that were "0s" within the last 2 days or something similar. Do you see any value in a more complex scan like this? Mike
If you choose to buy stocks after they have already moved the entire first day range, then you'll want to adjust your stops accordingly. I recommend using Jack's 'Stop Offset' Method and using channels to determine entry and exits. Jack monitors gappers and gainers of 5% and 10% in his daily scans. Again, determining where, in the long term channel, price finds itself can determine for you how much additional upside exists. Jack recently posted an explanation of how to trade using multiple streams of capital. Review his post for a lesson on how to determine an appropriate entry using your methods. Much of the background information (especially 'The Big Post: I -X' and the MSN documents) contain excerpts of Jack describing how he entered into a trade and why. I recommend a review of this material in order to gain a complete understanding of the goal you now attempt to reach. According to Jack, we look for a change in the pace in which volume accumulates in an effort to enter into a trade just prior to a volume and price breakout. Additional clues as to when such opportunity presents itself appear from time to time while watching the market. Jack suggests practicing wash trade drills in an effort to train oneself to notice these clues. Odelys created a few scans to test out this theory in the Original Journal. You might take a look at his work (he tried several variations) to set you on the correct path. I hope you find the above information useful. - Spydertrader
Entered into a long position with BOOM at 10:02 EST this morning when actual volume exceeded calculated Low Band Dry Up Volume. Basis: $35.59 per share. - Spydertrader
I need to head out to run a few errands. As a result, I sold all shares of BOOM at the $37.53 USD price point. Nice quick profit to end the week. - Spydertrader

long ckcm at 28, based on pro rata volume. did i read rightly somewhere that jack doesn't exit the stock on the same day he enters? if that's true, what does he do with a stock that doesn't achieve DU or FRV by the appropriated time (using pro rata measurements).
