    Let me answer better:

OEX gives a general indication of the overall market condition. It's pretty balanced with 100 stocks and it doesn't move too fast. I like it for Spread trading or hedging.
The big Money managers use OEX to hedge their port folio.

RUT: I want to explore the Small Cap world. This one is wild and you should be carefull with strike selection. So far I have been successful with it.

SPX: This one I don't like that much. I trade it to follow the crowd (coach and it's FOTM concept) Pretty good concept by the way.

Very difficult to get filled in SPX.

Overall, I just started making money in the stock market after 5 years of trading stocks. I started reading this thread last november, used my own analysis (technical & statistical) and since then I have been making money in a regular basis.

I have been trading Options only (not one stock) since last november.

  3. I am not a big fan of putting weight on speculations based on how many times a certain thing has happened in the past, just thought it was an interesting piece to read.

We will find out soon enough.

My diary says 1300 when I was going for $0.45. I forgot to write down what it was for the $0.50 fill, but I seem to recall around 1298.

My impression is that the velocity of the drop needs to be relatively fast in order to get fills like my second fill. While waiting for my second order to get filled the mid actually dropped from $0.50 down to $0.40 even as the SPX was slows dropping. But I think the velocity of the drop increased and that is why I got the good fill. Unfortunately, I don't have the tools at my disposal (unless there is something in ToS) to verify this.

As I write ToS is currently showing a mid of $0.60, so you should get filled. Try calling them.

The only other thing I can think of is that Coach called ToS and told them to stop filling his students at better prices than he got. He has threatened to do this on more than one occassion. :)

Thank you for the explanation. This sounds reasonable. I was trading OEX/XOE myself.

Good trading and keep it up :)

  6. I got Tom and Joel looking out for me lol. The other explanation is that the composite mid quoted is off slightly. Best way to confirm is to call and have them give you the actual tight b/a spread to determine the mid and go a nickle or dime off that...

Unfortunately it does not seem to be listed under CBOE. I`ll try to contact them about it.
