I typed in coachphil50 and it did not get filled. :(

    However coachphil20 worked fine.

    Can't blame me for trying

  2. I am actually posting a coachphil10/coachphil30 spread to scalp discounts on the book. That is why I am pushing the 20 so I can scalp either side LOL.

  3. MARCH is on the block at 45 days to expiration. Some spreads I will consider:

    MAR SPX 1200/1210 @ $0.20/$0.90

    or MAR SPX 1205/1215 @ $0.10/$1.30

EDIT: Also will follow the MAR 1175/1190 @ $0.20/$1.25

That is as high as I would go since the market could turn over.

However looking at the chart I am attaching below, the upward channel was confirmed again in the SPX daily charts and we even poked above it a bit today. More good news from the FOMC meeting tomorrow and we might run higher. Even a down day will keep us in the upward price channel.

  7. Donna , just a follow up to that hedge discussion, my OTM bull put spread on XAU lost half its value today alone on the continuation of the trend in gold. I had sold the 130 and bought the 125 for .45 , and will just let it expire worthless unless FED causes more jitters and gold keeps running, and i can sell more on the way up.

    Extractor:

This looks interesting. Which month are you quoting below and do you generally do the front month or other months when you place the trades.

In your opinion what circumstances drive down the price of gold?

  9. I do the front month to hedge my other trades if they were to cause any losses. Gold has bounced up now after being at all time lows since the late 80's, and like alot of the other commodities it has been in a very stong up trend. However besides commercial uses , we know people like to hoard gold, invest in gold , or actually own rare coins etc. The big thing now, is geopolitical with alot of play on gold in both the Far East , and the Middle East. As long as we have these situations pending with lunatics like the freaky dude in N. Korea , and the nut in Iran we should likely see gold stay strong for a good while. Of course you will see the retracements and bumps in the road, but play it like Coach plays the SPX, and you should be safe. There are also I shares , GLD, but I dont believe they have an option chain.
