  1. actually TOS does recognize my IC's that are NOT evenly spaced...I see what you mean Steve...I do give big kudos to TOS for recognizing my mangled birds and keeping my margin(BP) as low as possible:D

    Hi all

As I thought re unbalanced margins:

    From TOS:

"...In this case if you were to buy 5 put spread versus 10 that you were short then 5 would become a butterfly (no margin) and 5 would remain short the vertical with margin..."

Your right Coach it is nice to trade with brokers that understand:)

  3. Just wanted to post one last time about Charles Cottle's new book coming out Feb 1st, Options Trading: The Hidden Reality.

As I promised earlier I tried to see if I could get a discount for my peeps and got a 20% discount off the price, but only until February 15th. So if you are interested in this new book which brings with it all the great info from Options: Perception and Deception (originally published by McGraw Hill) and Coulda Woulda Shoulda. These books are out of print and hard to find. If you got a free copy of Coulda Woulda Shoulda, then this book updates and adds more info and is worth it, IMHO.

If you want to read more about the book, here is the link:

    http://www.riskdoctor.com/books.html

To get the 20% discount off the price, simply type "coachphil20" in the promo code section. I was told this offer is good until Feb 15th. Also free shipping if you order before Feb 1st.

Just wanted to pass along the info since the book comes out this week.

ALSO, Charles Cottle will be a guest on my radio show this Wednesday at 12:30PM EST to talk about the book. If you want to listen over the net, you can at www.washingtonbusinessradio.com.

Sorry for the plug but I wanted to pass on the book because I think it is very relevant with the discussions we were having on hedging and greeks and especialy since I was able to wrangle a discount for ya!

I just tried to order it from the website and couldn't do it. It takes you to a page with the order information and you can put in the coachphil20 but there is no button to click or anything to move forward. There is picture that didn't download and maybe this is the link to go forward, but clicking on it takes you to a "Page cannot be displayed" page.

    Anyone else having problems.

  5. I tested the link and when you click on the shopping cart where it say purchase it takes you to the order screen. To the left of the TOTAL word is a "check out" button that processes the order after you put the promo and what state you are in. If you are having trouble jus go to www.riskdoctor.com.

    Coach:

That button to the left of TOTAL is the one I referred to earlier as not having downloaded on to the page. Maybe I'll wait a bit and try again later.

It worked for me. The trick was to keep on trucking to final checkout and the discount appeared on the invoice. They sent via email a copy of the invoice and instructions for downloading the pdf version. All works well. Jack

  10. Markets closed up but VIX increased too -- anyone know why this happens?
