SPX Credit Spread Trader

  1. You guys all fight too hard over who's the best broker. They all have good points and bad points. So spread your money around.

I have accounts at IB, OX, and TOS. Also (gasp) Fidelity. Each offers something unique. I like the charting in Fidelity Active trader pro. IBs cheap, but no functionality. TOS is, well, just fabulous. But OX has some better screens for glancing over option chains. And OX doesn't close out the option chains screens in the morning. So you can still see the closing bid/asks. They get zero'd out at TOS.

If I didn't have enough cash to spread around, and had to choose one, TOS gets the nod.

Their service is the best I've ever seen.

  2. Well I would not call it "fighting" lol but certainly a lot of different experiences with brokers. I also have 3 accounts (OX, ToS and TradeStation). The account statements and profit/loss statements are so much nicer at OX and clear, ToS you just get lists of trades with no matching for net p/l. TS has a great technical analysis software for trading I use for futures. They all give me something!

  3. yeah, coach,

I'd like to get a TS acct too. Frankly I'd like to go there instead of IB, but their double secret hidden fees for quotes etc bother me.

I'm really interested in how you like them.

I use Quotetracker with IB for my futures charts. It's good, but TS has some extra features.

  4. I use TOS and am reasonably happy. I used to usee Lafferty and this is much better. But, I have yet to come in contact with the double secret hidden fees. (Maybe I'm still on double secret probation!)

  5. TS is tradestation, Not TOS, which is Thinkorswim (Who thought up that name anyways!)

  6. At TS for futures I pay $2.50 a contract and $15 a month for the CME data feeds on the E-minis and I get the analysis platform for free with 50 contracts traded. ToS is $3.50 per contract and no additional data fees. I think the commissions savings more than makes up for the extra $15 a month in charges. I am only trading futures with them since I need more tools than IB, OX or ToS provides in that area.

I am just scratching the surface at TS with their backtesting and EasyLanguage programming and I got tons of materials to read. Straighforward trading is quite easy and same click of a mouse like anything else.

As for options, I have no complaints about ToS and will keep my options account there.

  7. I stated electronic execution... You can quote a fly or a condor, et al, on ISE and work inside the market, electronically -- instant execution atthe bid/ask.

  8. I do not think I am seeing the difference. ToS also allows you to choose ISE as the exchange and enter orders on FLYs or condors as well. Are you referring to something different? Of course most of this is moot for SPX lol.

  10. At IB I have had troubles with stop orders on Globex (ES options). Otherwise, I am satisfied with IB.
