Do you know of there is a TT / IB connector?

  2. No, of course not. Go onto TT's website and you can see participating brokers. Or you can giveup from your TT broker to IB but what's the point of that...

I am actually switching away from TT to IB bc that 400 usd minimum adds up, especially for months when you want to take off from trading for vacation days. Then you have low volatility periods where you don't get the setups for your spread trades and then you have losing months to work through. Over the long run, controlling costs is important for your trading edge and long term profitability and my spreads haven't been that easy

If you are just spreading indices, i would say IB is an ok choice. Double check with customer support you can do 4 legs and how the engine works with partial fills if you work limit order on one leg + market on the other. Bc i didnt trust IB's combo engine, i always fired out market orders on 2 legs. There is enough liquidity in the indices.

If you are proper scalping, then you need TT and must pay the 400 minimum which is a claw back against commission, basically a minimum of 1400 lots a month. I absolutely love TT, and switching is going to be painful, but i can manually leg into my spreads and use the combo trader. Especiallly when i am spreading across the crude curve.

  3. Lastly, it takes one day to setup the account on IB, the lite package is free, pro is minimum of 10 a month in commissions but faster execution.

But setting up the account will get you access to their simulation + market data fees.

For a small cost, you can test it out yourself and know for sure. But TT is the ferrari of spreaders, the question is.. Do you want to pay for it.

  4. I wonder 2 things
    1) can u do 3 spread legs and which module u will use
    for example
1 CL spread -2* another CL spread + another CL spread
Can u go limit in one and hit market on the other 2?

    2) margins on a 1 month CL doublefly compared to actual CME margin?

    3) I guess I would need Pro though it’s not an issue since the 10 bucks min will easily be covered with trades like this (also data will be free if I hit 30 bucks in commissions though not sure if I hit 30 bucks in commissions whether both data and min activity fee are waived?)

  5. 1.) yes it can do 3 legged outrights but in that instance you want to apply native spreads where possible. you can do native spreads as one combo order but not as part of package. you need a proper spreader for this

2.) IB uses span in real time, it is great

    3.) data is separate

  6. If I can trouble you when u get a chance to if you could set up the below spread on the combo traded (just 2 legs of native/exchange spreads) to see what the initial and maintenance margin would be it would be greatly appreciated

FYI I already have TT and CQG but don’t have the spreader yet..I know I have to get it someday but just curious on a simple 1 month doublefly

    1*(Dec 20 - March 21 calendar spread) - 3*(Jan 21 - Feb 21 calendar spread)

So this is one quantity of a 3 month spread vs 3 times a 1 month spread

  8. Thanks much wow that’s like over 6 times the CME SPan margin on a 1 month doublefly

over 6 times MM and over 7 times IM - this is from a major FCM margining tool

  9. right, what do you see on cme? like 300?

i never actually paid attention how acccurate the numbers are bc I have enough capital

i guess IB is more conservative span methodology, that doesn't bother me bc they are safe

  10. the reason why i am moving my spread trading away is bc of the execution on spreads are poor, sticking to proper spreader
