Guys a little help with a spread execution on the RUT.
I use IB and was wondering how do you actually place the spread.
Buy one series first and sell the other one after you got filled on the buy side?

    Dumb question?
    Thanks for the help.

  2. Create a new line titled RUT.
    Select Comb.
    Create your spread.

Also read the manual when you have a moment. :)

    thanks.
Once I build the combo do I just click on submit? Does it go as mkt order?

    I will read the manual.
    Thanks.

  4. No. Once you build the combo just hit OK -- or whatever it is -- and then you will be taken back to the TWS screen with no order placed

It will display the options and the bid x ask on the combo.

Select the bid or ask -- depending on whether you are selling or buying. You can adjust the price to try for the midpoint or something around there with some luck if you wait around. Otherwise just place a limit order at the bid ask price if you are willing to take that price...

Since IB has a limit of 100 market data lines, do you know if listing the b/a of the spread counts as using 1 or 2 m.d. lines? I am assuming it would only use 1, but I'm not sure. Thanks.

The spread line itself is a data line. The spread, which trades as the spread price, usually appears in purple if it is being actively quoted.
