basically gelotophobic person would do well to remind of shame induced laughter traumas they went through as infants AND in childhood.
example of an 18 years old humiliated in public. However, the young boy was well prepared beforehand. <iframe width="640" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/zrPLGZ0kcUw" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Now examples of parents shaming their own children : <iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/vnkX9tIkGeQ?feature=player_detailpage" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Now imagine if the school other kids start laughing in the playing ground ... getolophobia will develop. This is why a clinical psychologue is useful, as these professionals do know how to get people to "remember" the shame based , humiliating events where the person get publicly laughed at. another example: <iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/9eRp9gBZPGE?feature=player_detailpage" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
<iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/0XcfhwcKncA?feature=player_detailpage" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> hahahahah seriously funny video. Now what if the kid is a little bit older, people gather around him and start laughing and mocking him, and the kid develops shame? ===> getolophobia : fear of being laughed at and ridiculed.
Interesting to observe the facial expression of this 9 year old kid being humiliated by his father. Luckily the dad did not have his friends around as the experience would be a public put-donw, humiliation and shaming associated with laughter ==> very likely to turn into an adult with getolophobia IF no psy help. <iframe width="640" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/BmhK65VjrRs" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Here a case of humiliation by a teacher in school. The teacher is laughing, the other kids as well. The kid is crying and shame also seem to be at play. <iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/sbzoOtb_9Sw?feature=player_detailpage" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Another example of public humiliation coupled with laughter. Here it is about a teenager, but it could also be a primary pupil... if no clinical psy help, sooner or later the getolophobia illness will be expressed at the slightest situation of humiliation/laughter. If the person had never had this type of experience OR had processed this type of traumatic experience with the help of a very good qualified clinical psy, any situation of laughter will not lead to feelings of humiliation , even if there is meaneness involved. <iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/jOGLYMXQoAY?feature=player_detailpage" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
how many get the humiliation with laughter and bullying ? <iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/JH1cGtY0H4U?feature=player_detailpage" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Now these one get someone to talk about the issues when they appear, so hopefully they don't overreact as gelotophobic adults to issues that have roots in their childhood. There is no running away from sorting your own past of childhood humiliations, public humiliations, shaming situations. Now, I am actually realising that no one has any "escuses" to go and mess up with others : GO and GET HELP. This is your clue you need HELP.
And by the way, all getolophobic people please remember that if you do not go and get help, the only people you will be attracted to, be obsessed with, be focussed on are those who have the habit of happily laughing at and humiliating life idiots and uglies - aka you as you have not get the necessary professional help you need. So do yourself a favor : get help ( clinical psy + clown college and clown job)
