I think, I have a new way of spiritually trading.... Hopes and Dreams, Hopes and Dreams baby..... Sorry for sarcasm.....but I believe that you need to get your self mentally ready to trade. Hopes and dreams might be one alternative........Buddhism maybe, finding god no ( unless you are a Protestant)........The best religion is Capitalism, so the way to asset yourself is to turn to its roots. Weber might be the answer.
did you mean comparison to a new car dealer or a ''We tote the note used car ''outfit????? New car for sure.
Faith in God, will help any aspect of life. Whether it is trading, or some other work, relationships, gaining strenth or courage, over coming hardships. No matter what happens in life, whether success or failure, there is always hope for those who have faith. There are alot of scriptures in the bible, that state this. Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Joey
i like this thought and agree. market is amoral. it's what you make of it that counts. as i was skimming through these posts, it struck me how most folks seemed very cynical. is that america, is it the times, or is it just the nature of traders? i thought i wasn't going to find any fundamentalist christians until i ran into one. buddhists i understand and could see finding those here b/c i could see a buddhist not wanting to hurt others. imo, chiristians should be like buddhists bc christ's teachings resemble buddhism, the spirit of christ resembles the buddhist mindset. however, sadly, most modern day christians and the church in general bear no resemblance to the christ mindset. i think the extreme judgemental aspect and hypocrisy of most modern day christians, along with an unrealistic and puritan-like sexual mindset is what turns most people off to christianity. this is unfortunate, since at its core, christianity is a mindset of uplift. but enough with the rant. if you want to know why i trade, it's because i like the fact that all you need is your wits about you and it's mind against matter. i like that you don't have to play corporate games or hurt people or let people hurt you. that's the main thing i like about trading. mind against machine. and i also agree with christian dude that you can do whatever you want with the money. if you see it as God's money and want to utilize it to end suffering or to do what you see as God's will, then it can be quite the moral endeavor. in essence, it is what you make it.
i know at least one philospher who would say that your mind is just a manifestation of the total consciousness that is God. that your like is just a manifestation of the total consciousness and that your so-called "reality" is just a conditioned perception based on materialism, that the REAL world is spiritual and when you move to a higher plane you realize that. so joab's concept of us all being connected, all being a part of God, as it were, has basis with more than one philosopher. even Jesus said things to this effect. (i'm blanking on the passage right now, but if i weren't so tired could probably quote it to you.) peace be with you....
=================== This maybe difficult for some to believe but i feel more spiritual watching the work of some dealers, even derivatives dealers ,stock specialists, market makers. The kingdom of heaven is like a merchant man[dealer]; Matthew13. And Also like a treasure hidden in a field ; Another parable compares the kingdom of heaven to a grain field with weeds. Matthew 13 pattern again.
A very interesting subject the spiritual aspects of trading....so I assume we have bring God definitely to the equation...Allah...the supreme being...our creator, Jehovah...Yaweh...how many names well, see I've been reading the bible since I was little......I grew up in a church which was eager to give you a one way ticket to hell even if you don't sneeze properly...well after I grew up and everything I made my own portrait of what's God looks like and what is the whole idea of bringing us to this motherearth. I realised that he/she was and still is not eager to send me to hell Many of the bible God's reference I read over the years places him(or her we surely don't know) in a state of opulence. "streets of gold" I mean, heaven is not a hood right??...many references of the bible linking God to prosperity and wealth...don't believe me???read the bible a look for all God's references so if we're God's creation I assume he/she want the best for us...right?? God is love , according to the bible....he/she doesn't feel love....he/she IS love so if it's so, therefore he/she will want for us the best...after all when you love someone you want the best for him/her right?? so linking the two....love...and wealth, prosperity I can say that God wants the best for us and its not to be poor but there's one problem, at least if we bring this theory to the markets losing well, that's probably why you have to lose sometimes ...to create a balance in this whole chaotic sea called the markets. I tell you, there's no place in this world that deliver more opportunity(well, maybe besides pushing Ecstasy to all gay bars in San Francsico) than the markets. Maybe , a solid money management is a divine rule...who knows??so you can keep the market in balance, an other's can benefit from it(when you lose) and you benefit form it, when others lose. This is just food for though Notice that I use the words "maybe" and "probably" because in reality this subject is way beyond our capacity as humans. We only rely on what's written , faith, observation and our five(or six?) senses. As to me, for more than 20 years, occasionally when I look at the markets I ask myself the same question...... how is that a chaotic environment like the markets, more often than not, creates a balance on itself in which many people get benefit from it?? chaos/balance...isn't that contradictory?? well it happens almost every day and many people are making money of it. At the begining I said" well that's a collective state of mind" But who's making us pushing the wave?...'cause you have free will right???you might choose not to do it....who's forcing you?? but we all do..and for the same motive Think about it
God does not like the stock market. There I said it. If ANY of you believe in God, if he is indeed this all feeling, compassionate entity do you think he really blesses your idolization of money? It's a heresy to be sure. To pray for windfalls of money and that's what I do I sit in front of my computer and I cross my fingers, spit into the sink whatever i have to do I say a lucky chant before I check in on my holdings. accumulation of worldly things folks it's an obvious sin. Then why are we all here? The market knows only the color of ticks, up or down, and has no hatred of color, race, nationality, religion or creed. I love that fact; that the market only knows up ticks and down ticks, is amoral - it lets me escape from the immoral world where grave wrongs are perpetrated every millionth of each second, and over which I have no control. I like all of this except the market does discriminate between rich and poor & it discriminates between the novice and the professional. I for one am not sure I believe in God-- I'm in the Kamla/ Wood Dragon/ Gemini camp-- and just a sort of a give good vibes get good vibes kind of guy. I also can get real mad, curse and swear, kick chairs, etc. I'm 6 foot 3 inches 220 pounds so that can scare people sometimes-- for that I'm sorry. I wish making money wasn't so damn important in this world. If everyone wasn't always asking " what do you do " (including my mother) I would feel less pressure to invest. But since everybody MUST do something-- this is what I do. I sit at my little breakfast table and I bang these keys and a I bring a little sunshine into my otherwise dark professional life. ~ stoney
Hi princessa, Very well said about the "real world", being a spiritual world. Once I realized this, sometime ago, life became so much better. joey
