  2. Yes, Stosh, and some of them quite egregious. This is true: I cancelled my WSJ subscription. I found I was reading it strictly for entertainment. That's what ET is for, and it's free!

  3. Actually, it seems to be mostly the ardent, flag-waving, Hard Right Republicans inside the US borders who seem to be far too patriotic to waste their time on spelling, grammar and other forms of "commie/fascist" subversion. They value their freedom far too much to be limited in their choice of expression. Heroes, all.

I do not, and I doubt many others, intend criticism of those who use English as a 2nd or 3rd language.....only of those of us who sat in English grammar classes year after year after year in grade school, junior high, and high school without paying attention. Here in Texas, I have to occasionally speak and write Spanish (Tex-Mex), and would certainly not want to be constantly corrected in doing so. Stosh

  7. Not so much that as the misspelling of it : "ect. " . I recently saw a classified ad from a tutor who claimed to have some fairly respectable academic credentials (advanced degrees, 4.0 GPA), and the person used "ect." several times in the ad.

I do hear them say "exspecially" on TV alot lately. And on the news crawls on cnbc and cnn the spelling/grammatical errors are rampant. Must be a low paying gig.

Text messaging standards are fast becoming the norm, it seems.

  10. People who are skilled in abstract thinking, do not tend to spell well, which is a concrete not abstract matter.
There are people who are good at both, but not many.
It is often the case the articulate can teach and write books, but can not trade and can not do math well.
