Speed of Light

  1. Pleease, Ancient Egypt and India laid the foundations of mathematics. The Greeks added onto that. Science went underground during the Dark Ages and was revived during the Renisance, after the Dark Ages controlled by the Vermin (child-raping) Creationists had ended.
Christian Monks may have added a line or two to mathematics. Islamic scholars added Nothing.

  2. If it weren't for the Christian monks and Islamic scholars, protecting and painstakingly re-copying texts from the ancient world, little or none of the knowledge you describe would have been available to Galileo, Copernicus, and others.

  3. Ya, they were the Minority…trying to protect the knowledge from book burning creationist ceremonies.

  4. Bottom Line: Islamic Terrorists invaded and took over all of Egypt and much of India. They pretty much plagiarized 'almost' all of what they claim to have contributed. Their forte was Terror and Suicide Attacks, not Mathematics.

As far as the Pretend Followers of Christ during the Dark Ages, here’s their contribution:

  6. Uninformed opinions are always hilarious.

Arab society of that time shouldn't be confused with the insane fundamentalism that grips that part of the globe now. Fundamentalists of ANY religion are dangerous.

Those monks wouldn't have had a big chunk of what they did if it weren't for the Middle Eastern scholars, schools, and libraries they obtained copies from. Not to mention what Arab mathematicians and scientists added to the fields while western society was living in rat infested villages, drinking urine infused water, and dying from the plague.

Looking at your sig, I assume you respect Freddie N.’s philosophy.
Then why the hell would you support the creationists, Freddie hated them with a passion.

  8. True - LOL

    True

True. They made copies and passed them along – originality not required.

  9. Anyway, this thread (orginally about physics - something about the speed of light) was evolving quite nicely till the creationists entered and did what they've always done - stifle scientific investigation.
