Sounds to me it's more like Evangelical Christians and southerners are not welcome in the so-called "big tent" a few religious bigots want to turn the republican party into. They don't get their way on issues like backing homo "marriage" so they claim the party has "left them." The party of Al Sharpton, Hillary Clinton, Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, Ted Kennedy and Harry Reid suits them just fine however.
