    Thats sound logic.

Trump started at 25 for his boondoggle. They should have settled at 12.5. If he started at 50, they should have settled at 25.

  3. The Trump proposal at the 25 bil level was part of a discussion about a deal where he would get 25 for the wall and the dems would get amnesty for DACA. I dont like the way the dollars for border security have withered back, but at the same time Trump is not putting daca settlement into the equation yet for the 5 billion deal either. There is some discussion about settlement for non-daca refugees who came as part of a hurricane refugee relief program but that is a different population. So it is not completely as though Trump has been backed down from a larger number, because he took giveaways out of the reduced deal.

Dont get me wrong though. I worry plenty about the possibility that he could take the lower number for the wall and also cave on daca. Trump's little buddy Lindsey is trying to get him to do that but on the other, Trump has said - as recently as yesterday I think- that he is not willing to settle on daca until after the court rules on it. So there is that scenario.

Unlike the hard-core types, I would be willing to settle on daca at some point but it would cost dearly as part of a comprehensive immigration bill. There would have to be money for border security, an end to chain migration, and an amendment to asylum laws. Some of that is not going to happen, especially if Trump caves on daca as part on the piddling little discussions going on now. But as long as daca is unsettled, some things are going to happen at some point that the dems do not want to see as well. Especially if trump wins in court.

Although it is taking a long time to work its way up to the supreme court, the dems are not really in a good place on daca. The law and constitution clearly favor the president on that issue. Trump has lost a bunch of lower level nineth circuit stuff, but that is just on the procedural issues, saying he can kill it until the court the appeal process is completed. They did that with the terrorist ban too but eventual trump won on the main issue.

The daca case is a scary one for the libs either way. If the Court rules in favor of Trump then he can deport them, unless Congress passes legislation, except he gets to veto that. If, on the other hand, the Court rules against Trump- it means that the Court is giving vast powers to a president to use executive orders to supercede authority that is clearly given to Congress. Not what the libs want while Trump is president. They are looking to diminish his powers not increase them and watch him use executive orders on steroids while relying on the Court to do so.

Anyway. I see the give and take and this piddling negotiation but to me all the action is still around who controls daca. Trump may cave on daca and if he does I will acknowledge that is game over and open borders as far as the eye can see into the future. No way I will delude myself on that. But I have to see that first. And I have not yet. Subject to change or not.

Bottom line: Drink your noni juice Ruthie.

Why? If democrats wanted 30 billion for universal healthcare should Mitch McConnell offer 15 billion as because he a responsible legislative leader trying to compromise?

So trump didn’t actually need 25 billion. That was what it was worth to him to protect DACA. What was he going to do with the money? Embezzle it?

  6. The larger proposal was for full wall coast to coast versus scaled down wall for sections. Also had other border security programs/support beyond just the wall. More judges, more border patrol agents, etc.

Republicans had a bill that passed unanimously in the house without wall funding. They can vote on said bill with veto-proof majority. Republicans are stabbing the American tax payer in the back per usual.

And that and no repeal in replace is a major reason that Pelosi is speaker.
Ryan new the damage done by his sabotage... which is why he quit.

Hopefully the remaining Republican have learned.
