  1. MADRID, May 27 (Reuters) - Spain's parliament passed a 15 billion euro ($18.4 billion) austerity package on Thursday by one vote as the country drives to cut its budget deficit.

The vote was close, with 169 voting in favour of the Socialist government's austerity plan and 168 against. Spain announced the austerity package in mid-May which includes wage cuts of 5 percent or more for civil servants and sharp reductions in public investment plans.

Austerity packages after austerity packages. So when will President Obama start "austerity packages" ?
