GDP per capita is hardly a sensible comparison to the standard of life for the majority. The gap between rich and poor is greater in the US than the majority of the developed world, if not the greatest. If you look up standard of living, I'm quite sure that the US is below Belgium. And how exactly does that make these third world countries?
