Spain jobless claims fall 1.84% in May

  1. MADRID (MarketWatch) -- Jobless claims in Spain registered a 1.84% fall in May, or 76.223 less than the previous month, for a total of 4,066,202. It's the second consecutive fall in jobless claims -- in April, those claims fell 0.6%. On an annual basis, jobless claims rose 12.3% in May against a 13.6% rise in April. Unemployment secretary Maravillas Roja said the May drop was the biggest fall in unemployment in the last five years and excluding May 2005, the biggest monthly fall since July 1998.
