Actually, the idea originally started from a proposal of Franco-German production of coal and steel, to remove any possibility of war between countries. The real coal and steel community was born in 1951 with the 5 countries you mentioned plus Italy

Listening to Trichets statements and press conferences one of the reasons would seem to be a signal to Unions over upcoming wage agreements to show restraint.

Hey Poirot, looks like someone pointed out that you got your facts about this wrong, still, you'll probably just ignore that post, hell,if you believe that it's what happened then it must have, huh?

So the one claim to fame that you credit to Belgium was the European Union.CONGRATULATIONS.Well done indeed.

Anyone still trying to think of 5 famous Belgians? Not easy is it.

OK,here's another one.Name a few famous Belgian companies off the top of your head.

I give it 5 minutes before you have to Google Search to confirm how unimpressive the list is.

The benelux was allready erected in 1944. as a custums union so the idea was allready there. In reality there was more than one idea behind the the european community of coal and steel. Yes you are right however one of the main reasons to erect the european steel and coals community was to prevent France and Germany going to war.

Pedantic insect, like I told you I couldn't care less about being famous (but if you can't think of at least one, one is about to take over the company which produces 'BUD' but let me guess, you don't know that) its only in your small mind that that is important.
So now please STAY under your rock.

Hey Poirot, what is this bizarre obsession you have with living under rocks?

Do you not have proper houses in Belgium?I mean,I know no-one even knows where Belgium is,anyone famous from there or what the country has ever done but I thought that at least you might have proper houses by now.

You really should brush up on your English too,I said can anyone name a FEW famous Belgian companies. One means ONE.A couple means TWO.A few means THREE or more.I figured everyone would know about InBev as they've been getting attention recently but I guess the subtelty of my question was beyond your limited comprehension.

Now,hit the Post a Reply button, call me pedantic and tell me to stay under my rock.I'll bet Belgian trading forums have the shortest threads ever.

Actually cvds16 called people who didn't agree with him highly ignorant and when I questioned him was called a moron.

So what's this got to do with you?

Nothing to do with the mistype.

Read the thread again. This guy has a rude tone in his posts and is very patronising should someone have a different opinion.People post a counter-argument,he is rude and the poster doesn't usually bother replying. But I will.

And frankly I don't appreciate being called a moron.
