Sove the Deficit, Terrorism, and Crime in one fail swoop

  1. I agree that the so-called War on Drugs has mostly been a war on taxpayers. There are terrible secondary effects in countries such as Colombia and Mexico that have been basically taken over by drug money. Decriminalization of drugs would have many beneficial aspects, although it would create problems.

    Places like Vancouver, Amsterdam and Zurich have serious problems with junkies lining parks, leaving needles around, property crime,etc. It is not a panacea to just legalize drugs. Frankly, I don't know how you legalize it but don;t let it be sold commercially. If you force users to buy from street dealers, you've created a whole other set of problems.

    I think most of us could agree that no one should go to jail for using or selling weed or stuff like X. This seems to be oneof those frustrating issues, like immigration reform and control, that the politicians are determined to ignore the voters on.
