If you're going to wear a useless rag to protect you from the virus you need to wear eye protection also as the tear duct will carry the virus to the nose if the virus gets in the eye.
I've talked about this a few times here at ET. Wash your hands - You may have a small lesion (break in the skin) that a virus can enter. Wear Protective Goggles - It's commonly known by scientists who study viruses or medical professionals who treat infected patients that viruses can enter your your body through your eyes and tear ducts. Wear Face Masks - The most common route into your respiratory system into your lungs is through your nose and mouth when you breathe. Many different diseases (e.g. Tuberculosis) taught all scientists, researchers, and medical professionals these facts about controlling the spread of an airborne disease. The WHO published several studies about the above many years prior to Covid Pandemic. In fact, in the fall of 2016 when I was hospitalized with Pneumonia...every medical person and family member who entered my hospital room was required to wear the full PPE that did the above... Everybody looked like astronauts in space. It scared the hell out of me when I came out of a coma. They were then required to discard (take off the equipment) into a biological disposal container next to the door (outside the door) after exiting my room in the special infectious disease section of the hospital. Why did the WHO not require the above public safety rules for controlling the spread of Covid ? They knew in a Pandemic, most people can not afford to properly protect themselves and most countries didn't have the funds to quickly mobilize everybody to do the above because they knew most individuals did not have the fortitude to do the above for many months of a Pandemic... Simply, the WHO made the decision to only recommend face mark wear, washing hands, social distancing, and avoiding crowds when indoors...its something most people can afford and tolerate assuming it's a proper face mask (N95). Unfortunately, we would learn deep into the Covid Pandemic that +70% of individuals did not wear a proper face mask (N95), and when they wore anything they considered to be a face mask...most individuals didn't properly wear it and did not use a hand sanitizer after wearing a face mask. There was another problem that the WHO was fully aware of...people tend to stop following the above safety protocols when they get vaccinated. Simply, vaccination in a Pandemic is suppose to either the primary protection or the back-up when the above safety protocols failed for that person... Vaccination is not supposed to be the only line of defense against an airborne virus because it's not 100%, it wanes over-time prior to the end of the Pandemic and a vaccinated person can still get infected and then spread the infection to someone else who's immune compromised, elderly... Anyways, use common sense...pretend you walked into a laboratory/research facility that's studying deadly viruses... What would you wear ??? Now imagine the WHO trying to get individuals to do the below in a Pandemic. I remember using Public restrooms in the Pandemic...I still see many people not washing their hands after using the toilet. It's their "right/freedom" to decide to not wash their hands after taking a shit or piss. This is one of the reasons why I say we as a society are very unhealthy when it comes to simple hygiene care. wrbtrader
