In the heads of most people...Covid has ended. I only say that because while recently traveling in France, Canada, and the United States...I've seen more people that are not social distancing, not using hand sanitizer, shaking hands / hugging others, entertaining at home with family/friends, and not wearing face masks. In fact, more people are traveling flying around the world again...vacationing without needing to show proof of vaccination. Actually, I rarely saw any signs about Covid vaccination but I did see a few signs about FLU, RSV and Pneumonia. Thus, the negative is that other contagious diseases (e.g. FLU, Pneumonia and RSV) are dramatically increasing in numbers. In fact, we've set record numbers of people not getting their FLU / Pneumonia vaccine and that's very dangerous considering many people have abandoned all the things I've mentioned in the above first paragraph. It's dangerous because vaccines against Influenza were poor before the Covid Pandemic...now it's like going into a battle with no weapons. Recently, I was at my Catholic church. I learned that two elderly church members recently died because of the FLU and one toddler was hospitalized with RSV...there's no vaccine for RSV. Sadly, all of the above is normal when transitioning from a Pandemic to an Endemic. It takes several years before public health agencies announce we're now in an Endemic. Covid will be here for the remainder of our lives like other diseases (e.g. FLU, Pneumonia, and RSV)...many have now obviously learned to live with the consequences of Covid as I noted that I saw in my recent travels while those most vulnerable to the disease of Covid are now more protected because of vaccines. I think it's the reason why many have let their guards down and/or they're just tired of the Pandemic...they're now living life again and thinking about more important things like rising interest rates, rising cost of living, rising energy costs...all that fun stuff. wrbtrader
