The left will settle for nothing less than its own dictatorship. Interestingly, the left attacks conservatives with 'radicalism,' in order to topple the established order. Once it has done so, it becomes it's own established order, ruthlessly intolerant of detractors. That is why the extreme left and the extreme right are merely opposite sides of the same coin. (consider that, when the left criticizes anything the right does, it is described as 'Nazi-esque,' and that Nazism is National <i>Socialism</i>). Are you a liberal trying to make conservatives look bad? That's the only possible explaination I can think of. What you described is NOT conservatism, but borderline facism. Maybe 'conservatives' like David Duke would endorse such extremism, but certainly no mainstream Republicans.
He's onto something about the 'order' bit. the left is completely anti-order (until they are in power). It's just the way he says it is kind of scary. Order is essential, but it really cannot be imposed too much. It needs to spring from a clear conscience, mutually agreed to in a spirit of brotherly love. Now you know why it's almost impossible to find.
Chas, that looks like an excellent book. The writer really has his eyes wide open. He knows, and so do you, and so do I, and so do many others, thank God. There is a principle at work here. A person cannot serve two masters.

Environmental Protection Contrary to some people's opinions, it is possible to both protect the environment and sustain economic growth. We support taking all reasonable and responsible steps to protect the environment and the species contained therein. Strong Families The family is the primary social unit in America. It must be respected, and encouraged in all its forms. Government should make policy with this in mind. Responsibility With rights come responsibilities. Exercising our rights means taking responsibility for our actions, and their effects on others. Free Enterprise The capitalist economic system is the most efficient solution to providing for peoples' wants and needs. Government's role is that of a regulator, not a controller of industry, and any regulation must only be for the good of society as a whole, and not for the benefit of any one entity. Rule of Law Law is the framework in which society operates. There can be no society without justice. Justice means that those who commit crimes must be made to answer for them, and that the criminal code is fair and wisely constructed. When criminal actions go unpunished, respect for the law weakens. The law applies to all, including all agents of the government. ...most importantly, Progress Progress is what Liberalism really means; moral progress, economic progress, and social progress to benefit all humanity. This represents the path towards a better world. At its heart, Liberalism is an optimistic philosophy.
what a bunch of hooey. anyways, liberals are only idealistic, entry-level leftists (so are some 'conservatives'). some of them actually mean well. What they fail to acknowledge is that, owing to human nature, the road to hell is paved with good intentions. They think mankind is perfectable by some evolutionary process. They call this mess the world is in 'progress.' They blame all failures on 'republicans.' Their mantra: 'Put control of your life and liberty in the hands of our 'experts,' a everything will be fine. Trust us.' It's command and control, baby. the left is death. period.
One reason that they aren't more widely available is that noone wants to read them. There's that 80% I guess that want to define reality by party lines.
