BTW, Just so that I understand this correctly - if I am long at say time X, and then at time Y I get another signal to go long in the same direction as X, do you pyramid into the position? If so, do you keep track of different PT and SL and SAR for each? nitro
Quah, I think after 120+ pages it's time to investigate some of the subtleties of the system. What are your thoughts on these: -Do we always SAR if a trade goes against us? -How many double whammy SARs before throwing in the towel for the day? -Do we bother looking at what the 1-min chart is "telling us" vs always "blindly" following the 2-min stoch indicator? -Do we wait to exit the current trade before entering the next one or keep adding/reversing the position? If I'm short on trade A and trade B is a long signal do I buy three contracts (which exits A and results in two Bs since there should be two contracts in play at this point). How many continuous switcheroos like this do we endure? -Any others you want to mention? --opm8 PS: This system is great and you've done a super job with this thread. Congrats.
Can't blame you for asking those questions opium... oops sorry, opm - they are all answered in the thread however. If you would just read it you would know. You know I... Wait, wasn't it me who just found out the data was from the 24 hour setting, after it had already been posted "at least 3 times." Okay then. If Quah replies soon, it is his question. If not, I can help.
Okay time is up. Quah needs to be working on more important things anyway, like developing another profitable method for us to use. Once nitro gets it figured out on TS he'll snatch all the volume before we get there anyway! To the best of my knowledge, these are correct answers: 1 - Yes, but just once per trade. Consider doubling up on that SAR. It has shown good reliability. 2 - No limit 3 - No - the purpose of a system is to remove subjectivity. 4 - If short and next signal is short, then add one. Each trade is a separate entity in that respect, so targets and stoplosses remain individualized. If short and next signal is long, close short, and go long one. The length of each trade is typically such that this "switcheroo" will only occur in the first half hour. Hope this helps!
Nitro, Are you using tradestation just for testing or are you executing trades with them also? Runningbear
I get the impression you're warming to the idea of system trading. Even though it's not REAL trading Runningbear
I agree. I get the feeling nitro has backed off that wee tirade, and may now be regretting it........but at the end of the day, whatever works, right?
Lol. Well, instead of changing this system - or even making adjustments (especially so soon), I'd rather just work on something separate. I figure there is room for more than one "method" - even if they are similar. Be on the lookout for "Son of Something Very Simplistic" where the most popular question will be "Why 2,176?".
