Mish has been with IB a long time and is not slamming them, just stating what happened to him to help others be more alert. Mish had a router and thought he was protected but was not. We now have him set up with ZoneAlarm and he is getting a new router with NAT capabilities (the Linksys one) to get locked down. How do I know him? We hang out in a traders chat room. There are several in our chat that use IB and have very few problems and are more than happy with them. So, dude, no need to start trouble where non exists. Regards, TAfool
You think your the only one with a BS detector? Junior Members huh, the new trouble makers you say, Rebels without a cause, maybe were all a dangerous trading gang working like a pack of wolves! the_ dud YOU ASS, Junior Members will beat your Senior Citizen trading ass till its purple Don't slam the Juniors when they "break you off" and give you a new one. IB slamming huh-if you only knew Nuff said Ready to go head to head in a trading challenge oldster? Trading Harley revving...... >>Don't mistake youth for unprofitability<<
Don't you think if this was all fiction, def would be here by now letting us know that this appears to be a made up story so that we don't worry about it? Or, is it perhaps that you are so emotionally tied to your trading platform that you regard any utterance of criticism to be some kinda religious attack? Dude, you need to release some tension, take a breath, and chill out. You may find it helpful. Peace, and better luck with your trading...
I know Mishka also and he's never said anything bad about IB, in fact I always thought he defended them too much. He's really not sure how the infromation was taken, just happens to have account at IB.
Mishka This is commonly known a identity theft and happens more often than most people would believe. I'm sure that the FBI made you aware of the other risks that you could be exposed to by this individual. For your sake, take the necessary precautions. I have heard stories were peoples' entire lives have been destroyed by these individuals. Mike
Is it that easy? Any wire request should have written signed authorization. And the signature chould be checked against that on the original account papers on file at IB or thier clearing firm.
Hi All, Here's a letter (with some editing) I had e-mailed to IB Management at ibmgmt@interactivebrokers.com If you have similar concerns, may I suggest that you also e-mail your thoughts to IB Management? Thanks. -- An Anonymous IB User ========= Hello, I have been concerned about the security of IB's e-mail and web system shortly after becoming an IB customer. In particular, I have never been comfortable with the unencrypted daily and monthly statement e-mails sent from IB to my account. While I do like receiving the statements in e-mail form, I am uncomfortable with so much information being made available in unencrypted form. It would be great if IB could provide the following enhancements to their security protocols: 1. For all wire transfers, have an IB staff call up the IB customer to verify that the wiring instructions prior to wiring out the money. Faxed, e-mailed, or web instructions alone should not be sufficient to wire out funds. 2. Encrypted emails via Digital signatures, such as those issued by Verisign, for the daily and monthly statements. 3. For all live chat and telephone interaction, require a verbal/written password to be given. 4. For all e-mail communications from an IB customer to IB support staff, require the customer's e-mail to have a digitally signed ID. 5. Whenever a customer contacts IB from a IP address (for live chat or e-mails) or a telephone number that does not match the records, require additional verification of the identity. Thanks for your time. -- <Name withheld>
keep in mind that miska's wire did not go through. certain staff have the ability and have previously been instructed to freeze accounts if/when there is any suspicious activity. all i can say at this time is that mgmt is looking into ways placate your concerns.
This morning right after I logged into IB I got a notice from ZoneAlarm that someone was trying to access my computer from 67.232.136.250. Does anybody know a way to track this down to the sender?
