Well, that’s the strategy, right? Call the system corrupt and tear it down to Trump’s level of corruption so people get confused. I see you have this fifth amendment strategy worked out. Its political suicide but, considering you think Trump is incapable of handling stressful, high importance situations, it may just be the best move for him. We’ll have to disagree on this, knowing Trump really doesn’t have any good choices. I do think we will see him delay, while his team gathers info and preps him. I think they will try to avoid a subpoena and push it all the way to the line with that before they agree to talk to Mueller. At least we have bipartisan agreement that Trump is an easily manipulated imbecile. So there is that.
Sure, Trump is a real shrinking violet in stressful situations. Can't handle conflict at all. Let's see how your girls Pelosi and schumer handle themselves this time around in "stressful, high importance situations." And your girl Hillary in her command post in Chappaqua. also known as her Lazy Boy Recliner. You might want to lay off the kool aid a bit. My post said the exact opposite. ie. If Trump sees a buzzsaw, his first response is to want to go over and jump into it, and that does not work in legal situations so he needs to be guided by his defense team.
I’m sure Trump is no shrinking violet. As a matter of fact I’m sure he wants to fight. We all react differently to stress, it takes strength to stay focused and calm. I don’t think that is in Trump’s dna. And I agree with you, he will be no match for Mueller. I’m going off of your interpretation of his mental inability to stay focused and stable. You think a compliment can get him off base and blathering. I don’t disagree. I also think the right threat times well can provoke him too.
Depends on what you mean by "no match." And there is a difference between "Trump" and "Team Trump." Trump might not be a physical match for someone attacking him, but you have to deal with his bodyguard. Same with the legal situation. Mueller may out-maneuver Trump if it is just trump on team trump but you have to deal with his legal team now too. So by standing down- if he is advised to do that- he may be outmaneuvering Mueller. The biggest mistake in any tactical operation is letting your opponent draw you into a conflict on their turf and their terms. Trump is not the first person in the world to go into a legal forum where he has a massive amount of skills and success in other areas that are not necessarily helpful in a legal environment. That is kind of why we have lawyers. Trump should do what Dowd tells him to do. If not. Dowd should leave and let Trump be Trump. Both are entitled to be who they are. You know if you are Steve Jobs and your doctor wants to give you chemotherapy and Jobs wanted to take Tahitian Noni Juice instead, they both should just go do what they have to do. It is not a an either/or binary thing as you want to make it. His lawyers can stipulate to the scope of the inquiry in advance and maybe that will go that route. But as I said yesterday, I would not let trump strut in their all set to do a Yuge job in answering on the obstruction charge and then Mueller instead asks him fifty questions about deutchbank and condo developments in Kukkastan.
Very nice Sun Tzu reference. I think we agree Trump has a terrible decision before him and he is almost certainly going to be on the losing side of it unless he can meet with Mueller, is not actually guilty of anything substantial, and not lie. Now you may lose your mind about this but that is exactly what Clinton did. She went in, wasn’t guilty and didn’t lie, and now she is free as a bird watching the price is right up in Chappaquiddick.
Every situation has to be assessed differently. If I were Clinton and knew in advance that the fix was in, and that the guy who was running the interview/wife had received 750K from dem operatives I might try to work out an interview. Even the dems, though, gloat over the fact that Mueller is doing a real investigation rather than the faux kabucki dance that they put on for Hillary. Mueller is trying to get something on Trump and get a trophy if he can. Whereas the goal for the Hillary investigaton was to NOT get anything on her. It would be a big mistake for Trump to think he is in the same process that Hillary was in. Even for Hillary the whole thing about interacting with the FBI was fraught with peril. Sure, she got through the interview fairly easily for a number of reasons and then had a little period of relief and the suddenly the FBI got quirky out of the blue and helped to take her down. I am not as convinced as others that just because she appeared for the interview that she is thinking that a person who has nothing to hide is all set. But rather, that any time you are having to interact with FBI or the justice department you have exposure.
Eh, some on the right try to make it out like the Mueller investigation is chock full of zealots hell bent on taking down Trump at any cost. I don’t. I don’t think Trump has much to worry about beyond obstruction of justice and some other collusion stuff. However, they may be a lot there. As always, we’ll see. Now if Mueller starts pulling out financial stuff that doesn’t connect to the election in some way then he went too far and that is not what his job is or what we expect. This is not saying Trump’s financial dealings are out of bounds neither, just I’m not looking for a Ken Starr, gotcha scenario. And yes I am well aware that this is a case of the left having principles whereas the right does not and it’s sort of a unilateral disarmament but someone has to stand for principles.
I'll say one thing, I was not a zealot type until Trump appeared. I had Grrrrrr days/weeks with Bush and Cheney but I guess because I have a entrepreneurial streak I watched a lot of the Donald's shows. Not out of admiration, just to see how others/me if not careful can be manipulated. At least if I were doing business in the US.
