Some have challenged me about libertarianism.

It's a good thing the Americans of the first 350 years or so of our history didn't know that.

Ron, out of curiosity, what was the point of that Ron Paul video? I mean, I don't think you seriously believe "he" is a racist, yet at the same time, you said that video explains why you are not a libertarian. Or are you a libertarian? Honestly, I'm not quite sure what you are trying to say.

Look, I've said this before on this forum, that we will never have a libertarian president. Not for the reasons you cited, but because almost all Americans want some form of socialism. I took some heat for that from DAS Trader but I believe it to be true. Having said that, Ron Paul is not a racist nor does being libertarian make one a racist.

  3. That post annoyed me Mav. You are not reading thru, but considering what you do I get that you might be a skimmer.

I never said I think Paul is a racist. Not once. I said Paul, which includes his team, are not doing a good job at sinking the Neo-Nazi's that have attached themselves to his underbelly.

If he does not do this, it will sink him, even if he does see the light of day.

So i suppose then in fairness you also believe that it ia obamas job to sink the black panthers, oh wait, he and holder were actually busy getting them out of trouble with the law.

What you said is assinine, it is not his job to control all of the people who follow him, nor is he responsible for the people who follow him. He has stated his own personal beliefs and that he is against racism and that is all he can do he has no control over who decides to vote for him.

RCG, you are doing it again. You act as if there is this large Nazi population that is out of control and running rampant among libertarians. Come on. There are more people in this country that claim to take to space aliens then are Nazi's. And for the record, these so called Nazi's are now a part of the OWs movement. Should Obama disavow himself from OWS to denounce those Nazi's? Of course not. Ron Paul has all sorts of nuts that follow him. I have actually pointed that out several times on ET. But to be fair to him, he has no obligation to denounce them because they are not speaking for him.

I still don't understand your point. As Max pointed out, the black panthers supported Obama. So did Jermiah Wright, Bill Ayers, a one time terrorist, etc. I guess one can take these all on a case by case basis, but Obama never denounced these people. Hell, I'm sure Reagan had some fringe groups that hung pictures of him on their wall.

All this is a distraction. The issue here is not whether a libertarian could ever be elected. But rather what "you" personally believe.

It seems to me that since you don't buy into the whole liberty and freedom thing, that instead of just scooting a little bit over to the left, you go all the way over to liberalism and the democratic party. Why did you move over that far?

We had this interesting talk awhile back when you said that you were one of the few blacks that are libertarian. We all kind of laughed about it. And many on here had a hard time believing because lets face it, blacks in this country are indoctrinated from a young age to support democrats. I thought it was very refreshing to hear that you could think for yourself. But you still seem to be hung up on the black thing and run over to the far left for safety.

One of these days I would love to sit down with you and just listen. I can sit for hours and listen RCG. I would love to give you a fair chance to just walk me through your thought process. That would be a fun conversation. I mean that seriously.

  7. It will come Mav, I know you are the real deal, so I promise I will make that drive.

Blacks and dems. Well that is wayyyy too much for me to type. We have a lot to do on our side of the aisle, but, I will not allow your side of the aisle to neglect history and it's long term consequences either.

RCG, for the record, I don't have a side. I support liberty and freedom and individual rights over group rights. Again, I have been very critical of libertarians on here and republicans for that matter. And if you heard me argue with people in person, you might even think I'm a hardcore lefty. Not because I really am, but because I can be very harsh on the right.

I think people should think for themselves. I am NOT a fan of group think. I've been that way my whole life. Way before I ever knew what a republican or democrat even was. That's why I get offended sometime when you say things like "you people" and "all of the right on p&r" and "your side". If you knew me a little better you would know how far off the mark I am from being labled in any particular group.
