  1. Trader 7793,

Good points. They are so obvious you have to wonder why it doesn't happen.

  2. Any solution that involves these pirates in the lifeboat getting away is unacceptable.

I blame the Navy also. The captain escaped briefly, but the Navy wasn't prepared to assist him. If they laid down covering fire, he could have gotten away. Instead, the Navy sat there and did nothing while the pirates recaptured him. I have to wonder if they were under orders from Washington not to use deadly force.

One solution would be to blow a hole in the lifeboat and tell the pirates the only way they are being rescued is to drop their weapons and release the captain.

  3. It is a mental disorder. There is no other explanation.

  4. The Navy isn't trained for this sort of thing. Plus I am sure Washington with little Barry the Pussy in charge told them to do nothing.

Obama is not doing anything. They never did this when Bush was around because they knew better.

Bush is a bad ass. I would give anything to have him back.

  5. I'm curious, what is your background on actual military matters and tactical operations?

  6. Kinda heartless to do that, don't you think?
What if the captain was your father/brother/best friend?

The pirates know they'll be far better off if their hostage gets out of this alive and unharmed. They're not terrorists, and they're not suicidal. In a few days from now the captain will be a free man back with his family, while his captors will be captured or dead- thanks to the fact that you're not running the show.

    This part is fine.

  7. To be clear, I predict the standoff will be resolved within a couple days. The pirates will be talked into surrendering and handing over their hostage (relatively) unharmed. You'll see.

The U.S. Feds have Jedi mind tricks. (I learned that the hard way.)

  8. It doesn't happen because the shipping companies have been happy to pay the insurance companies, the premiums.

    Duh.

  9. That's all you do "AAA" is blame, blame, blame . . . You've got it ALL figured out, eh?

Tell me, what credentials do you have in regards to hostage situtations let alone military operations on the high seas?

  10. I agree. The water and food on the Maersk life boat will run low soon. The four Somali's will be forced to make a decision.

    1) Kill the Captain and then die
    or
    2) Release the Captain and be captured and prosecuted and throw in the SuperMax prison in Colorado.

    They have no other choices.
