1) Not interested in the "babe" factor at all. Happily married. 2) Not interested in getting cardio workout with the home gym; will use stationary bike for that. 3) Again, this isn't for building mass as I have a slim physique and a very high metabolism. I have no desire nor illusions that I can ever become Ahhhhnold. Much prefer to be toned and cut. Bruce Lee had what I consider the ideal physique - slim but incredibly ripped. 4) Isn't for rehab. 5) Have done the 24-hour Fitness route before and although there are definitely tons of different machines available at those local gyms, I don't like dealing with the crowds, sweaty equipment, the time it takes to get there plus the traffic. 6) URL for Total Gym is, guess what, www.totalgym.com 7) Although there is space available, I don't want to deal with the clutter of a weight bench and free weights and bars lying all over the place (According to the Soloflex ad, the machine takes up only 4 X 4). Plus you need a spotter to really max the workout, and I can't expect my wife to always be around to spot me when I want to workout. 8) Steroids are for losers. I just want a machine that will enable me to exercise the major muscle groups on a consistent basis. I don't intend to be spending 2-3 hours a night working out.
If stimulus were the key, why lift at all? Why not just get electrostimulation of the muscle??? You don't know jack about building a body the right way. You are a laughingstock at any pro or semipro natural shop. Anybody can tell natural muscle from that bullshit juice puts on you. At the end of your next cycle, stay off the juice, and see what your squat numbers will be in a couple of months.
Hapaboy.... There are stores that sell exercise equipment. They work with in conjunction with personal trainers. Go into one of these places, see what they have to say about their equipment. See what kind of training they have...how much it costs to have a trainer come to your home. Interview the trainer. See how long a training program should last before you go it on your own. I know you can't do this with a Bowflex. And it would most likely require more than one piece of equipment. And it would be more expensive equipment than you will see at Sears. (But you might find the same stuff for a fraction of the price used....Ebay, newspaper). You may feel it is worth the $ if it is a serious lifetime investment. At worst, you may get an education by doing the window shopping. Peace, RS
Spot on. Back, abs and legs are essential to train. But such training is certainly not done best on a leg press machine! That's for sure. All you need, and I shit you not, is a bar and some weights. Pick that thing up and squat it, deadlift it, and press it. Problem solved. Most of the crap you find in a gym is just rubish gimmicks. "Professional trainers" recommending isolation crap like triceps kickbacks. Lol. What a joke. Want cardio? Hit the road and start running. Want cardio intensity? Start sprinting. (Do a few cycles of short sprints - jog - sprints - jog and you'll see what I'm talking about.) Home gym/gym argument is a wash. He wants to work out will work out. It's what you do, not where you do it. And as I said, you can do all you need to with a good old olympic bar.
dude, when you lift weights, the stress damages the muscles and triggers them to rebuild/grow. if you don't eat enough, how are they going to get mass to grow? calories and protein are KEY! if it takes 3000 calories to maintain your weight today and you want to gain weight, how are you going to gain weight if you're only eating 2400 calories? how are you going to get something from nothing? furthermore, what is responsible for building muscle? protein! so it makes sense to get the optimum amount. for me, today, i am going to eat 3800 calories. this number is adjusted higher than normal because i know i'm going to do about 680 calories worth of exercise. i will eat 140+ grams of protein. the 140g of protein is mandatory today. the protein is 560 calories. 3800-560=3240 so for today i will eat 3240 calories of WHATEVER THE HELL I WANT. so, i'm not saying lifting right isn't important. i'm just saying lifting and eating right go hand and hand...and imo, most people are very, very uneducated on how to eat correctly. what is your richard simmons point??
i have never taken steroids. however, i also don't just think what i have been told my whole life because it's what i have been told. if it works, you are aware of the consequences, and you accept them, why not do it? if someone wants to, it's their choice. i think i'd look better how i am naturally, than being a huge monster. it's just my preference. so, i personally would not use steroids, but i don't think steroids are for "losers."
you do NOT need to work out 2-3 hours a day to be in PERFECT shape. this is how i'm in better shape than 99.999999999999999% of the world's population: i eat PERFECTLY, every day. i calculate how many calories i need each day. i know how much protein i need. EVERY DAY, i do it right. when i work out, it only takes me 30-40 minutes...and i don't even lift every single day. for cardio, you don't HAVE to do it, but i do. again, it doesn't have to take a long time. so, i'm just saying, to be in good shape does not necessarily mean you have to take 4 hours out of the day to do it. not at all! you just need to know what you're doing and be consistent!!!!
