Soldier does not believe in the War

  1. Anyone who wants to see for themselves could just go down the the local MEPS (Military Entrance Processing Station). There are plenty of young folks waiting around in lines to take physicals, entrance aptitude tests, and get sworn in before they leave for boot camp.

  2. Yeah, spoken by the defendants at Nuremberg. Convicted anyway.

  3. the only problem i have with this thought process is it assumes our leaders are moral and have our best interest in mind and will follow the constitution. the clowns that now occupy the white house and got us into this illegal war have actually manufactured the "evidence" i.e. lies to do so. this administration has committed treason and should be held accountable for these crimes. i am an ex republican and don't consider these guys to be patriotic conservatives. they have morphed into some type of fascist that put corporations and foreign alliances ahead of the american people. i feel sorry for these young marines that blindly follow this cabal and their lies.....they will realize one day after they watch their buddies' heads/limbs ripped off in front of them, in battle, that they served the wrong powers. they will indeed realize they have been "bait and switched".

last time i looked, global hegemony was not included in the constitution as a perpetual goal.

  4. actually the defendants that you are referring to at Nuremberg were guilty of war crimes and most were members of Heinrich Himmler's SS corps. Regular members of Germany's armed forces were not brought to and tried at Nuremberg.
In reading your previous posts, you always seem to have the inclination and ability to twist things around and come up with an illogical conclusion.

  6. I posted this on Craigslist recently.

Here was the reply to the criticism that I received.

Also, I have been in contact with an Army Recruiter recently.

Here is the text from e-mails that I received.

The best thing I could do is find out your qualifications so that I can
refer you to your local Reserve Recruiter (they are the ones that set you up
    with the ASVAB).

Here are the basic qualifications for the OCS enlisted program:

*At least 18 and not have reached your 29th birthday at time of USAREC
Selection Board. (age waivers will be considered on a case by case basis for
    applicants ages 29-34)
*Must be a United States citizen
*At least a 4-year college degree prior to entering the Army
*Earn a minimum 110 GT score on the Armed Forces Vocational Aptitude
    Battery (ASVAB)
*Meet the minimum height and weight standard
*Pass a complete physical at a Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS)
*Able to obtain a security clearance
*No more than 10 years' active Federal Service at time of commission

The length of your service depends on the job you pick. It could be
anywhere from 2-6 years. The 8 years that you are thinking about is the
Service Obligation. To better explain this I will give you a scenario; If
you enlist for a 4 year term and then you decide after your 4 year term you
don't want to reenlist you are put on inactive status. This means you go
about your regular life (not physically in the Army) unless you back up.
You are eligible to be called back up anytime after the initial first 4
years until you reach your 8 year mark. This is the same for any of the
enlisted times you enlist (2-6 years). No, active combat time does not
    shorten this term.

Officers could get called back at any time unless they resign their
commission or get discharged for some reason.

Since bonuses only apply to certain MOS's and availability, we try not to
answer those questions, because we cannot be definite until the time you
enlist. Officers don't get offered bonuses for the branch they get put into.

For enlisted: The bonus will be paid in one lump sum up to a $7000 max upon
arrival at the first duty station. Any remaining amount will be paid within
one year after your initial payment. The Counselor at MEPS will provide you
with a payment schedule if this applies to you.

Your local reserve recruiter will tell where the local reserve units are in
your area and the jobs they train there. You will only have to travel with
in 50 miles from where you live to get to your unit. For the training you
    will have to go away. Here are the jobs training location and time;

    For Enlisted:

96B- Ft Huachuca, AZ; 16 weeks 3 days
96D- Ft Huachuca, AZ; 20 weeks 2 days
96H- Ft Huachuca, AZ; 19 weeks 4 days
96R- Ft Huachuca, AZ; 5 weeks 4 days
96U- Ft Huachuca, AZ; 23 weeks 3 days
97B- Ft Huachuca, AZ; 17 weeks 4 days
97E- Ft Huachuca, AZ; 15 weeks
98C- Goodfellow AFB, TX; 17 weeks 3 days
98H- Ft Huachuca, AZ; 21 weeks 3 days
98J- Ft Huachuca, AZ; 11 weeks
    98K- Pensacola, Fl; 19 weeks 4 days
98X- Monterey, CA; 3-80 weeks based on language

I will need more information to determine your qualification.

    Question number two:
    96B/Intel Analyst: Top Secret Clearance
    96D/Imagery Analyst: Top Secret Clearance
96H/Common Ground Station Operator: Secret Clearance
96R/Ground Surveillance Sys Operator: Secret Clearance
96U/Unman Aerial Vehicle Operator Req CL 3 Flight PHY : Secret Clearance

    97B/Counterintelligance Agent: Top Secret Clearance
    97E/Human Intelligence Collector: Secret Clearance

98C/EW Signal Intelligence analyst: Top Secret Clearance
98H/Commo Interceptor Locator: Top Secret Clearance
98J/Electronic Intelligence Interceptor Analyst: Top Secret Clearance
98K/signal Collections Identify Analyst: Top Secret Clearance
    98X/Cryptology Linguist: Top Secret Clearance

Question number three: Check out this link (we don't keep up with that
    information) www.dss.mil/aboutdss/faq.htm
If you have not been hurting anyone and you have good credit you should be
    good to go.

Question number four: Unfortunately, I have never heard of anyone getting
the Security Clearance before enlistment. If you have a good background you
really don't have much to worry about. Getting a security clearance could
take any where from 3 months to 3 year (worst case scenario; a lot of
    background).

Question number five: The two year service term is offered only to limited
jobs and highly doubt any of the jobs you are interested in offer the 2 year
option. Guidance Counselor, again, has the complete list. It changes
    daily.

  7. I know it sounds ridiculous, but I was looking at the Army as a way to serve my country while simultaneously benefiting my trading skill set. Because one thing I have consistently struggled with is discipline under fire. I would go so far as to say that there is no other kind of discipline. True discipline is acting according to plan when your head and heart are screaming to do otherwise. I figured that was something the military might be able to provide me with.

  8. I wanted to bump this thread with the whole situation going on with Ehran Watada. I thought it was a good discussion, and this definitely falls under the subject that was discussed.

I also was hoping to hear from Brandonf who I have not seen post in Chit Chat in a while. I hope your step brothers Curt and Kerry are okay. It is up to you, but I hope you have positive news to give us.
