I had more than a few times today with locked up charts/quotes, from 5 sec up to 1 min, between 2:15 and EOD. I'm using QT w/IQ Feed on a fast CPU with plenty of RAM. Anybody else have this problem today?

Procrast or anybody else with the Mirus/Zenfire/Ninja setup, did you experience any delays? I understand its very stable under fire.

I was on a wireless network today, maybe that caused the delays.

  2. I also use QT (&NT) & IQFeed, on a 3-yr old laptop with 1.5G RAM.
I did not have any lock-ups, tho I know things were running a tad slower - noticed it more on inbox delays and sound alert delays off a second or so. I blamed Cox as the internet had gone down earlier ~12:50 to 13:05. Since I am not trading real money, I cannot speak to order delays.

Pr0crast, I am curious about your experience with Zenfire since you mentioned 1 sec fills or better -- have you had the chance to trade FOMC days with Zenfire & did you get that same great response?

I cannot speak for Pr0crast, but I was running Zen-Fire (on NinjaTrader) side-by-side with Esignal (On Ensign) today and throughout the afternoon action Zen-Fire was faster (~1/2 second). It did not miss a beat this afternoon. I have been quite impressed by its perfomance, quality, and reliability (though my usage has been short (roughly 7 trading days) and I have only verified these metrics against Esignal data).

I cannot comment on fill times as I have not placed orders through Mirus (yet). :) But I too was getting a little frustrated with MBT reliability as of late. So I am on a quest for a new broker. Thanks for sharing the input Pr0crast!

I think I will be hard pressed to use anything other than Ninja Trader (+ Zen-Fire) once they release the ability to set the y-scale to a fixed range. Ninja_Ray said they have this request on there list for future enhancements.

BTW. Excellent work on the NinjaScript indicators LostTrader - Your efforts and sharing are much appreciated!

Awesome work, better than hand draw because it visually alerts you when a formation created and when it broken.

  5. Thank y'all for the compliments - in truth, I have received so much that I have felt guilty not being able to contribute. This is at least one thing I can do a little bit...

I used to spend so much time drawing the formations, I'd miss big moves because I wasn't looking! Argh! Much better, more relaxing, for the SW to do it...

I am waiting to make a choice on brokers, until I settle decidedly on software -- am looking forward to hearing about that software Spydertrader has been checking out. Especially if it had this method in mind during development... (I do not know that - just wondering/guessing)

I didn't have any problems with Ninja/Zenfire this afternoon and was even using 20 second bars during the really hot times. Just simming, not real trading, so I don't know how real order placement was going.

NinjaScript barcheck formations really help keeping up with the action. Thanks LT !!!

    LostTrader,

Thanks for the screenshot. Care to share why you prefer QT over NT?
    - I thought NT with it's scripting capabilities is perfect for trading futures JH style.. :)

  10. Maybe I just paid more attention today or it got worse -- I believe that it is QT. I've got the latest drop and it is churning my hard-drive alot. At one point, I heard the hard-drive suddenly & noticed that QT had stopped updating (the bar count-down was not moving). But NT was updating because I heard sound alerts triggered. This lasted ~50sec.
After that I tried to correlate -- every time I heard the HDD, QT froze usually for ~5 secs.

I've seen brief delays while a chart blanks & redraws but never thought about it as it did not affect my work. This does.
