I was told IB doesn't provide real tic base data, it's a .3 second snap shot. maybe that's the problem?
Both screen shots are from the MB Trading quote stream. It is because of those pauses that I was thinking of using IB.
Well, sorry, I'm plotting Tic Chart and T&S for the ES, not the YM, so I can't really comment on your YM problem. Wish I could help.
Here's an example of the YM Tic Chart using the MBT data stream today. Yes, it does have short periods of "zero" volume. NOTE that this is AFTER I backfilled with DTNIQ data, so the problem may not be strickly with MBT data stream (unless MBT gets their data from the same DTNIQ source that I do). The problem could be with the market data originator (CBOT??) or a problem with QT.

Here is a great little addition to add to your researching threads, and just browsing the internet. Cooliris. http://www.cooliris.com/site/firefox/support_cp_ff.php It looks like it supports different browsers. I use it with Firefox. Example is , if you open ET and scroll down new posts on home page, they open and can be navigated in a smaller window. You will still be on the main page the during this. Makes viewing more than one thread at the same time possible while you are researching threads. Very easy to see two threads simultaneously for comparison. Also just for browsing internet . Very helpful. While this is not software for Hershey methods, it is very useful for researching Spydertrader and Hershey material at same time.
Here is an example of Cooliris. This is a screenshot of what I just posted in the software journal, while I have the Spydertrader futures journal open at the same time. You can navigate around inside the smaller window while main page remains open. Also you don't click on anything. The windows will open when you scroll mouse over link.
