This QT problem with trendlines is really getting on my nerves. I emailed a suggestion to Jerry on a possible solution, but haven't heard back yet. If they could fix this problem, I'd probably stay with QT. You wrote the above, back in June and I noticed you're using Esignal now. How do you like Esignal's trendline/channel drawing capabilities compared to QT? What about PRV?
Esignal is great for the data feed. I use it for most of the intraday work. Trendlines are easier to use, as they can go right on top of the old ones without problems. So drawing channels is quick. I do some heavy annotating and it does the job perfect. Prv is an efs file that also works great. QT is my favorite for ease of use. If the problem still exists for annotating, fixing trendlines so they can go over the old ones would make it perfect. I do use it for my long term trades. Esignal is the feed I use for QT. I can say that QT support is the very best, and they have replied immediately to all my questions. So intraday I like esignal as far as the trendlines go and the data feed, but QT may have them all beat on support and ease of use. Hope that helps.
Tikitrader, when you know how to post it so that it can be downloaded direct into esignal, please let me know. I'm terrible with computers. Thanks
fwiw, I start the trendline at the other end, then run it back to the point one, then go back and adjust the angle if needed. By now I hardly notice that it's a workaround. More irritating is the fact that my main ES chart has for days now been selecting an earlier line than the one I want to copy, and I can't figure out a workaround for that other than deleting the earlier line each time....
I use QT version 3.8.6b-1. I use the same workaround as you for plotting trendlines and hardly notice it either. I do notice that after about 4 to 5 days of heavy trendlining and annotating a chart, QT does copy an earlier (wrong) line as you described. I have assumed that some buffer somewhere is getting full, so after 4 days I just right click and open a new chart of the same symbol and select the same template. This new chart allows proper copying of trendlines and text for another 4 or 5 days. After several days I just delete the old "full" chart. That's my workaround.
Open this page, efs is eight down from top post. Click on the efs and save to esignal downloads. http://forum.esignalcentral.com/showthread.php?postid=98701#post98701
Zoom in. Select what you want, and move it in an open area. Zoom out. Select and reposition the item.
hey, who uses Qcharts + Mbtrading? If so, has anyone noticed that the prices in qcharts' charts sometimes dont move for minutes while the quote moves just fine? (i'm running version 5) they say that i should switch to qcharts 6. but qcharts 6 doesn't allow intergration with mbtrading's navigator for some reason.. i'm so fed up with this... is anyone else experiencing the same thing?
Good news for QT users: Jerry Medved of QT sent me the following PM. I have not tried it yet: We made a small modification that should help with drawing trendlines when one trendline needs to start near another one. If you hold down the ALT key while drawing the trendline, you will only be able to draw new trendlines and NOT select or drag existing ones. This way, you will not accidentally grab the existing trendline when the intent is to draw a new one. you can get the update that has that at: http://download.quotetracker.com/download/stocks.zip Close QT and extract the contents of that file into the QT folder, overwriting the existing file, then restart QT
